I 've had my 2015 tacoma for 2.5 weeks. For some odd reason I already have some squeaking at slow speeds turning. If anyone knows why please let me know? I'll aslo take it in to get checked out.

But to stay on topic, I thought about getting the Colorado too, and I refered back on what I wanted 10 years ago. I know of tacoma's reliability. The new release of Colorado just makes me suspicious of what recalls they'll see first. too many unknowns with the colorado, especially value retention.

Mine was squeaking at 5k, too. Once I got the tsb done, it stopped (obviously). Shortly after the replacement I put an OME lift on (progressive 3 pack AAL in back). I've put on 12k since the lift (20k total on truck) and still no squeaks. I've traveled plenty of dirt roads, have towed my 5k trailer probably around 3k miles and have done some wheeling as well. My guess is once the snow starts flying, it'll start to squeak again.

    are you joking ?

    Colorado has serious wiring issues

GM does the very least quality control on everything, and the Colorado is the bottom of the bottom of the barrel. so many of them are simply falling apart, it is a freaking joke.

source: I know some fleets of colorados and they are in the shop constantly the owners are PO'ed and cannot wait until these fleet leases are up and they can move to different trucks

Ok I recently bought a 2014 Taco Baja for a good price, I just equipped a 2015 Colorado and besides the fact that I cannot add a skid plate and the Chevys rims and tires are a lower level that truck would cost me close to 4-5000 more than my Taco. Looking at the online pics I also prefer how the Taco looks.
    Just my 2 cents.

From an inside point of view, I do not see the GM products being a threat to the Tacoma. The Tacoma has 63% of market share. For the longest time, the only competition was the Nissan Frontier (yuck), as it put everything else out of business. Walk on a Toyota lot and look at how few Tacoma's they have to choose from. They can't make them fast enough to keep the lots full.

Toyota is simple, "if it works, don't fix it."

I will let you in pm a secret, the 2016 (2015 calendar year release date) will be refreshed.

And don't let the EPA stickers on the Monroney sticker fool you. GM still uses the EPA's numbers for that little section. toyota is different where they take those numbers, compare them to the "actual real world MPG" and then put the lower of the two on the EPA section. All manufacturers have that option, they just choose not to go the extra step. The other manufacturers would rather pay out in a law suit rather than loose out on initial sales. And if you were to look into how the EPa does their testing, you would laugh. Not to mention they don't ever rive the vehicle at all, just do a lot of calculations based on size of engine, weight of car, amount of gears, and drag coefficient. They are also using outdated figures and calculations. That is why the EPA has come up with newer calculations to be used on the 2016 MY vehicles. Watch the MPG go lower on many other manufacturers.

Will there be a diesel? More than likely not. Yes, Toyota has their own diesel truck division, but they are too conservative when it comes to major changes like that. Not to mention the Tacoma can pull a lot as it is, and the price point does not allow that to happen at this time. Not to mention the Toyota is the ONLY manufacturer to pass “Performance Requirements for Determining Tow Vehicle Gross Combination Weight Ratings and Trailer Weight Ratings,” or simply Society of Automotive Engineers standard J2807. In other words, they stand behind what they say and let a third party prove it.

Every day I would get at least one person asking if Toyota was going to put a diesel engine in their vehicles. Toyota's answer is to go in the Hybrid and now Fuel Cell direction.

But yeah, the new model is supposed to be a big change. A much needed upgrade in my professional opinion. Power seats, or even more adjustability than they have now. A little quieter cab with better touch points.

IMO, GM's attempt at the mid size truck market is another flash in the pan.

If this render is even remotely legit. I hope that this is the five-lug version, and not close to the clearance, and look of the 4WD models. Looks completely soft and Camry-fied.

I like the somewhat primitive, purpose built and rugged looks of the current version. The grille in this render wouldn't be out of place on an Avalon.

That is the European version called the Hilux. Different engineers and designers because the Europeans like their vehicles designed a little different than we do in the States.

However, all manufacturers are going with the huge front grills. Reason is, Federal Mandates state that there has to be a 3" gap between the top of the engine and the bottom of the inside of the hood. This is a cushion in the case you hit a pedestrian and they roll over your hood. The theories are that it first gives you a cushion and secondly, creates a cradle for you to lay, instead of hitting the windshield and flying over the vehicle.

So true, I hope they upped there game with this new Colorado. My 05 had horribly electronics and wiring. Just for example the wires that run from the cab to inside the door all broke inside the wire looms just from normal operation of opening and closing the door. The new Colorado does offer a lot of new tech but as others have said GM vehicles do not age/wear well.

I had an electrical issue in my '03 ZR2 Blazer. I had to lemon law the truck. What a headache to try and get a manufacturer to fix their own crap.

If this is the NEXT Tacoma then I would keep mine 2012 until it's rotted (which will be a long long time). That looks WORST than the Ridgeline and the Subie Baja...

Its an artists interpretation based on spy photos of what the next Hilux might look like. The next Tacoma has a better chance of looking like my dick then it does this POS.

Wow, someone have a vendetta against GM or something? Can very easily take what you wrote and replace it with Toyota issues. Let's try!

Between the Gas Pedal issues, and issues like it that will pop up again soon, and the lack of innovation (Tacoma hasn't been redesigned in about a decade, Tundra has a lukewarm touch up with no mechanical changes and Toyota is generally known as the boring beige camry/carolla car marker with exception to the FJ) coming from that company they won't be around for long unless the US/Japanese government (Toyota took a couple billion from the US during the whole bailout debacle and also received a welcome subsidy from the Japanese government) decided to support them again next time shit hits the fan.

    Does that sound about right?

The next gen taco should be pretty awesome and they have GM to thank for that as this new truck is no doubt tops except in plain old stock off roadability. Which btw the next gen will get lower (especially in the front bumper/air dam region, have you seen the renderings?) as they try to raise the fuel economy numbers to better compete. Don't expect it to get there with all the suspension exposed and no air deflectors. Just look at what has been done to cover the suspension on the wrangler to help it through the air on the road. Compare a current gen versus an older model, lower and more coverage; jeep has done well watering down the line but still keeping some good abilities thrown in. The current gen taco came out when fuel was cheap and aerodynamics weren't important, they are now so lets see.

There was never any conclusive proof by the national hiway safety people on whether the toyota gas pedal issue was a mechanical or computer issue. Toyota stopped selling vehicles for three months while they retrofitted all vehicles to fix both potential issues. They paid out families in many cases even before the court cases similarly to what ford did with the explorer/firestone issues. They fucked up and they atoned for it once management realize they didn't just have a small issue but a major safety hazard.

GM killed several people and only said sorry after internal documents were leaked. They haven't paid a dime ahead of court settlements.

Tell me which company I should trust again?

Any who, we could argue that in circles but I do see your point and I openly admit I have an axe to grind with Chevy. I would suggest I'm in the majority not only on this website but also in North America when I say GM has a far worse reputation than toyota for safety and reliability. There's a reason that reputation is out there and GM isn't doing anything to remedy that.

Toyota invests in Tesla motors and is a few years from bringing gasoline powered electric direct drive to the market for superior sport and handling characteristics with extreme fuel economy. GM is chronically behind other companies when it comes to bringing new tech to market. The volt was antiquated the moment it hit the market.

I'm glad toyota is coming out with a new truck, but as I said I don't think air dams or aerodynamics are particularly important to me or my work vehicles. Sure we need fuel economy but we also snap off plastic dams, fenders, and plates the moment a vehicle hits a field and then it's a mess of a vehicle both visually and aerodynamically anyways. Too much of current truck design is done for the idiots who use full sized trucks as commuters driving up gas prices instead of buying a practical vehicle.

    Rant over lol.
