CALLING ALL 1st GENERATION TOYOTA TACOMA OWNERS.

I have frame corrosion with my truck. I got a letter that said to have my truck inspected and a binary set of steps would happen 1) if no corrosion than corrosive resistant compounds would be applied 2) if no corrosion, a replaced truck at higher blue book value would happen. My truck had no corrosion but CRCs were not applied

There are four things you can do and should:
    1) File a complaint with NHTSA against your dealership and Toyota. Toyota, for safety reasons should buy back these trucks because they are not safe to you or other people. NHTSA can force Toyota's hand on this and should for safety reasons. https://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/VehicleComplaint/

Take heart, a NTSB rep thinks our issue is "as big as the Takata air bag recall and is a big mess"

    2) File the same complaint against your dealership with the Consumer Protection Division of the Attorney's General Office

    3) File the same complaint with the Better Business Bureau https://www.bbb.org/consumer-complaints/file-a-complaint/get-started

    3) Call Philip Milligan (479) 783-2213. He is an attorney in Arkansas running the class action law suit for 2001-2005 Tacomas. He wants to start a class action law suit for Tacomas 1995-2000

I have agreed to be the rep for a class action lawsuit for 1995-2000 Tacomas but we need a lot people to call Philip Milligan and tell their story.

Anyway, I also have three complaints against my dealership right now with the BBB, Attorney General's office in Virginia, and with Toyota. It seems like a lot of work but when you compile the information once it is easy to cut-and-paste. If you get a chance, spread the word about this. If the NTSB thinks this is as "big as Takata" we are not far from setting off big alarm bells

I have no idea why this class action on older trucks would work when the courts already decided on the class action on the newer trucks that no warranty was implied beyond the manufacturer's stated warranty. This seems like a litigation pipe dream to me....but I'm no attorney.

    ^^^ I agree

Problem is some people got new frames and buyback a and others did not for whatever reason.

The trucks are getting old, let's face it.

Oh and one more thing. This is not and will never be as big as the takata issue. Those airbags are in many many different vehicles. These frames are underneith one model.

You're still under warranty, no? 15 years from build date... So you should be covered until 2019.

I hope the op isn't already spending his winnings. Be on the winning side of a 20 billion class action award and you *might* have enough to buy a coke. If you already have a couple quarters.

The BBB is 100% useless. You pay a fee you get an A rating. Dont and you get an F. Pay another fee and they'll call whatever company you're unhappy with, and tell them you're unhappy. They have 0 authority, 0 actual power, and are the pre internet version of complaining on the Internet. So by posting, you have done the same job.

Attys dream of handling class action suits. They get paid, a lot. Most times they're paid, a lot, to DROP the case, to negotiate settlements where you get a nickel, and if they actually go through with the case and win, they get paid more than many countries make in a decade.

And dont forget, if you win and actually spend the 15 cents in gas it will cost to drive to the bank and cash your 4 cent settlement you have often just waived your rights to individually sue the company.

you had to have the frame inspected and sprayed/ok'd at a Toyota Dealership to be eligible.

was your truck sprayed? if it was and you have paperwork then it's covered. you didn't explicitly state yours was so if it wasn't in for the TSB then you are SOL

^bingo, attys don't give a shit as long as they make bank. some do actually care but none will pass up a big pay day.
