Just installed new Moog 81104 coils with Bilstein 4600s. Assembled with new Moog tophats and Wheeler's bushing set. Reused the the lower bolts. Attached pics of old and new.
Can I expect the front coils to settle? I wasn't expecting much if any lift with the Moogs.
I have yet to install the new rears, so I anticipate some leveling out, but I'm surprised at how much higher the front sits.

Also hearing some squeaks (starting to subside), but can I expect this to linger on for awhile?

I can't say for certain, but you should be okay. I'd rent a spring compressor on your way home tonight and get it done asap, though.

Did this improve the on-road ride for you? Just purchased an '01 and am thinking about replacing mine as well.

Yes, absolutely. There are many options for the coilovers (plenty of great info on this site), but I am 98% on road use, so decided to go with the bilstein 4600/moog set up. Here's a thread that provides nice guidance:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...ll-joints-front-shocks-tips-or-tricks.626844/

I also replaced the lower ball joints and outer ties rods. Handling has improved as well as gas mileage.

Don't forget your upper ball joints.

The current ones have no visible leaks, and no play that I could detect, so I decided to hold off for now. But that is definitely on the list!
