    So i recently started upgrading my audio setup in my truck. Got a Pioneer AVH-X8500BHS headunit installed and was a bit disappointed in the speakers. Seemed to distort at higher volumes. So i ordered this component kit from *********.com (Image Dynamics CTX65CS bundle) http://shop.*********.com/Speaker-Tweeter-Mounts-with-Image-Dynamics-CTX65CS-BUNDLE1.htm Ive got it all hooked up and ran into an issue. I used the stock factory wiring (for now) with the adapters from taco tunes. Hooked that into the crossover IN. Tweeter and Woofer got their respective hook ups. Went to test and i got no sound. So bit of problem solving i found i had to have the stock tweeter hooked up to its wiring. Then the Image Dynamics woofer and Tweeter worked perfectly. Remove the stock tweeter and i lost everything sound wise. So what is the easy to just have it all run without having the stock tweeter hooked up?

    You have to jump the wires for the tweeter because if you don't the speaker connection is open:

    + Speaker wire >---------------> + Tweeter >----------------> Woofer +
    - Speaker wire >---------------> - Tweeter >----------------> Woofer -

    If you remove the Tweeter from the wiring the circuit is open.

    Install a jumper as depicted below:

    + Speaker wire >---------------> + Jumper >----------------> Woofer +
    - Speaker wire >---------------> - Jumper >----------------> Woofer -

    +1

    Here's the stock wiring layout:

    When you unplug the tweeter, it disconnects the woofer from the incoming wiring.

    Easiest way to go, if you aren't going to keep the original speakers, is to cut and insulate the wires from the tweeter directly and plug the connector back in.

    Did this last night. Cut the stock tweeter harness. Run the stock tweeter wires to the in/out of crossover. Then run your new component woofer speaker wire to the w+- on crossover, and finally the new tweeter directly to the T+- of the crossover. Works perfect. The stock tweeter harness is the primary signal source for your front speakers. Note: YOU DO NOT reconnect the stock woofer plug. It's unused.

    That's one way.

    I mounted the crossover under the arm rest where I can easily pop the door panel out far enough to switch the +/- switch (glad I did, + was too "brittle").
    Since the stock harness wasn't long enough to reach back that far, I used a Crutchfield speaker adapter to plug into the woofer connector and ran that back to the crossover, and jumpered the tweeter as indicated above.
    Ran new wires from the crossover to the speakers.

    That way, I haven't cut any of the stock harness (other than the tweeter side of its connector), so I will have no problems going back to stock, or moving to a different configuration in the future.
