So I just had a local company install a ARB locker/Compressor this week. I just threw on a tire inflation kit. My Compressor/lockers will only engage and turn on when the lights are on. Is this normal?

Doesn’t sound like it. Should have tapped the + from an ignition source. I wonder if they plugged the illumination wire onto the terminal for the + from the ignition

Possibly. I'll contact them tomorrow. I was just curious if it was some kind of failsafe that they did.

Might be able to pop the switch out of it’s location and check to see. Do you still have the installation instructions for the compressor?

I'd bet that's exactly what they did. How you don't catch that when your testing the install would be my first question. What else did they fuck up would be my second.

Check the air compressor switch and pins 6 and 2.

Where are you at in Utah? Post up in here or I can move the thread for you to see if any locals can give you a hand or look it over.

Yeah, North of Salt Lake. Thanks. I talked to the Sales manager an hour ago on FB. I don't drive this truck really except on weekends. I'll just drop it off to them sometime next week. Just sucks I have to go out of my way to do it again.

Curious, what lockers you use? (ARB? front and rear?) and how much was the install and parts?

OP, it's the red with yellow wire that needs attention...

Illumination tap wires removed for clarity...

I took it in the following week and they fixed it. I still don't get how they didn't' catch it.

No check list to verify after install most likely...

OP, if you feel like modding it yourself...do this:
The shared grounds indicates (to me) that the lights inside the switches do not have an internal ground share, if they did there'd be only one ground for both lights on the switch.
So, by removing the ground wire on pin 7 (of each switch) and linking them, then tapping them into the dash illumination ground wire (green with white runner) they'll behave as all the dash lamps do.
So, daytime, dash illumination off, locker not selected, all switch lights OFF
Daytime, dash illumination off, lockers selected, one light ON.
Nighttime, dash illumination ON, lockers not selected, one light ON.
Nighttime, dash illumination ON, lockers selected, both lights ON, one dimmable.
