IDK, but my 18 with MT is pretty close to perfect. So what if there is a fuel pump and radar recall. What I am worried about is nit picking repairs and the truck crapping out AFTER warranty. Pretty sure that is not going to happen. I agree that CR does not always have the best recommendations thou...bought a Dyson vacuum years ago based on their glowing recommendations...what an expensive piece of crap that was.

Ended up with a Frontier. Is it as good as a Tacoma, maybe not. With 3+ years of ownership I have no real complaints.[/QUOTE]

Doesn't matter if you are 6 feet tall or over, those things are very cramped inside. I considered one because they are made in the USA and they have the same steering wheel and controls as my 2004 350z but I don't fit inside. The fact a 4 cylinder gets 17 mpg would've killed it for me anyway so I guess it doesn't matter.

    A few.
"Down and Dirty" That's how consumer reports describes the Tacoma.

I will say this about Frontiers - you dont see nearly as many elitist shitheads driving those around. :bananadead:

I abused my 2000 Frontier more than any vehicle in my life. Wheeled it everywhere, it was a surprisingly nimble little truck. Met a lot of Toyota and Jeep owners on the trails. Most people were cool of course, but there were a few from both camps who looked at me like they just smelled a rank fart. "Shoulda gotten a Toyota," they'd say. "Shoulda gotten a Jeep." Never met anyone on the trails that ever said "Shoulda gotten a Nissan." Some people think they have cred just because they bought a cool brand.

Also, my 2018 Taco runs just fine, thank you.

If you were an alien and came down to the US and test drove a RAM 1500 and a Tundra, you'd score the RAM 1500 a 10 and the Tundra a 6 based on initial impressions. But if you owned both for a few years the Tundra would be bulletproof whereas the RAM would be falling apart.

The Tacoma, when quickly compared, has a hard time keeping up. Transmission software and Entune make poor impressions. But years later when it has held up reliably and you realize the amazing resale, you are glad you got the Tacoma.

That is one of the things I like about the Frontiers as well. Just normal everyday guys driving them. The Taco crew kinda reminds me of the Beautiful People Club episode on Family Guy.

'18 was the year were all that safety crap was added on the truck. That's probably why there were so many consumer complaints, hence CR rated it poorly. Toyota probably got the bugs out of it for the 2019 model.

Truth. Although in general Taco guys and gals seem to be more agreeable than Jeepheads. Those 1st Gen Frontiers are kick ass, if a little hard to get into the engine bay (they really stuffed that 6 cylinder in there like it was a Ford). Miss my '95 Pathfinder, nimble little nutcase.

Those of you crapping on repairs for your vehicles, keep in mind that Toyota and Nissan do NOT control their dealers directly... if a dealership mechanic is a nut, that's on him/her and the dealer, not Toyota/Nissan. If you have problems, go to a different dealership. Hell, go to the BBB.

Also, CR is next to worthless. According to them, Jesus drives a Honda Ridgeline and it can do Hell's Gate/Revenge at Moab better than a JL Rubicon on 40's...

Sorry to hear that man, thats a lot of issues.

Luckily my 2018 has ben flawless except for couple minor recalls. Brake master cylinder and squeaky clutch pedal. Its squeaking again, ill just use some lithium grease this time.

Made in texas may 19, 2018.

Because in this millennia, there are too many whiny baby back mofos that complain about anything and everything with a ridiculous sense of entitlement instead of gratitude. Unfortunately, these are the majority and the loudest. Hence those reviews.

I'm vertically challenged (5'7") so I have no issue fitting in. I do like the more upright seating position in the Nissan. With driving less than 7500 miles a year, mpg is not a real issue for me.
