Article on why they moved it to the back, they greenlit a mid engine Corvette in '07 buy cancelled it when the recession hit.

I like the new Corvette !!!!!

Probably will start seeing owners installing F1A or F1X Procharger's on the base model 6.2L LS motor and making 1100plus hp

I can't read the article right now, but my thoughts are that the current C7 is already a near perfect if not perfect 50/50 weight distribution ratio.

After all this time they finally perfected the formula in an off-the-showroom attainable consumer pony car. Why taint that formula? Oh wait, because GM. Lol.

The corvette is a hell of a value. I've been wanting one since the C5. I still think they're great.

Well if the formula was so perfect, then why did sales slump every year drastically in comparison to other manufacturers models? The new model is designed for a different demographic. Most of the old farts cant get themselves out of anything more then a crossover SUV with their weak knees.

Kudos to Chevy for giving this a shot. Under 3 second 0-60 with a somewhat attainable pricetag is a temptation for many working professionals looking for a fun weekend car that they can DD if needed

I may be wrong. But I see no way 495HP/470LB-FT getting from 0-60 in less than 3 seconds.
    Mid 3 seconds maybe but not sub 3 seconds. C7's 460HP /470LB-FT only made 0-60 in 3.7
35HP and 5LB-FT isn't going to make almost .75 seconds difference on the 0-60 times unless the car dropped 500lbs.

As the first naturally-aspirated engine in the Stingray lineup, this V8 generates 495 horsepower and produces 470 lb.-ft of torque. The previous generation's 6.2-liter V8 produced only 460 hp and 465 lb.-ft.

In addition to the transmission allowing drivers to make speedy shifts -- regardless of driver mode -- thanks to an electric shifter, it offers both "the spirited, direct connected feeling of a manual and the premium driving comfort of an automatic."

Being able to sprint from a standstill to 60 mph in an estimated time under three seconds gives the C8 the quickest acceleration of any Corvette -- last year's model made the sprint in 3.7 seconds.

It's like the new Chevy Blazer and Toyota Supra. More money and headlines if they use a name from an old popular vehicle then making a new one. Some thought they were to make the mid engine car a new Halo model for Cadillac.

Crazy thing is the market is hot for SUVs that look and play tough and they made the Blazer a crossover. Toyota can't make enough 4runners and the platform is about 10 years old

They absolutely will sell more by using the name, but good comparison wtih the supra.

Saw a dodge durango with a 392 the other day. Seems pretty cool for a soccer moms car:D

Do you want to know why? Because it's GM. The brand speaks for itself. They build beautiful models at an attainable price tag whilst sacrificing quality in the process. If anyone knows how to build what would be the perfect vehicle it would be them, or Ford, but they choose not to. All of GMs products in their line up have suffered in sales in North America not just the Vette.

China is where their major sales are occuring. We are no longer dealing with an American brand like they once used to be. They are more interested in pushing their crap overseas, not here.

These guys are targeting millennials and the youngest of the baby boomers who are going through their mid life crisis with this mid engine change. Statistically speaking, millennials are the brokest generation. They can't even afford lunch and rent let alone a $60,000 exotic supercar. It's a dead outlet.

If the brand continues doing what they do they are destined to go bankrupt again. Mark my words. No one here really wants to buy their junk because they know how poorly built it is.

Anyway.. that's just my two cents.

I think it looks great, especially for that price. Chevy needed to move the vette away from the older demographic -- this car, I believe, can do it. And kudos for them for doing this in a market that's moving more and more to SUVs. Great to have this as a sports car option.

    And $300 Jordans.

Funny you mention that because I was thinking about just that as I wrote my last two cents rant.

That's why they are so broke.
