Oh no! Does it have anything to do with your donor case?

No, it has to do with the transmission was never designed to have a manual shift case attached to it. Guys doing FJ transfer case swaps have to do the same thing. The electronic shift cases don't have the rods out of the front.

Good to know. Looking to do this sometime in the next year or two, looks like it’s a hurdle I’ll have to jump too. Good luck with the rest of the install

I cut the hole in the floor today and will I'll be using the shift boot from an MT FJ Cruiser to seal it up. I'll get pics when I get that done. I plan on having the new shift lever come up on the right of the manual trans shifter, that's still on the to do list. Hoping to have it all wrapped up next weekend.

Got the install wrapped up today. Shifter modified, Foor seal installed, and interior put back together. Just cut a hole in the shift boot for the second stick to go through. At some point I'll get with an upholstery place to make a proper boot.

Also took a test drive and everything functions. The double low is going to be so nice, also easier on the clutch.

Edit - for future reference I had the front driveshaft lengthened 6.5 inches and the rear driveshart shortened 6.5 inches. For the rear shaft only the short section in front of the carrier bearing needs to be modified.

Congrats. Exciting to see this. Your the first one I've heard of the get one of these rolling.

Redline goods is expensive but can make a nice boot to your specifications.

I hope being an early adopter doesn't come back to bite me! Really not much can go wrong though. After seeing how it all went together and assembling everything it seems to be a solid system. I also replaced all the bearings that were needed from the donor case with new bearings, for peace of mind.

It was a fun project. Wasn't really keeping track but, probably had 30-40 hours in it. Which also includes replacing the clutch. So I had the whole drive line gutted lol

This is the best thing to happen to a 3rd gen MT!

I agree, it's a game changer for the MT's. And don't forget this adds 2wd Low range!

appears you kept stock case for the rear case. What did the donor case come out of. did you have to lengthen the wiring for the factory transfer case to reach the new position 6.5 inches back? how did this effect when the factory locker can be used? I am assuming you can still only engage the locker when the original case is in 4low.

Thanks for being one of the first and sharing your feedback. Biggest thing I am curious about is leaks. If it doesnt puke out the shifters and weep from between the cases like Marlin and TG, that's a big plus for me and will be worth it to rip out my Marlin setup.

Donor case was out of a 2004 Tacoma 3.4L AT with 120,000 miles

Yes, I kept the stock transfer case. I cut and extended the wire harness to the transfer case actuator 11" ( thought it would have been 6.5" but it would have been too short maintaining the stock routing).

Yes, stock case has to be in 4 low via selector for the locker and traction aids. It Operates like stock.

I'll be keeping an eye on this. But I think it should be good. It seals differently then the Marlin and TG cases. I've seen the issues those had and it also concerned me at first, but this setup is superior in that reguard.

That seems ok. Never really need the locker except in low gear. And the second case would allow me to have 2wd low range which is a huge plus. Was the donor case from an automatic FJ cruiser? Thank you so much for the info!

Donor case was out of a 2004 Tacoma 3.4L AT, but one from an auto FJ cruiser or even a 4runner with manual shift part time 4wd would work. @NorthwestFabworks has a good compatibility list on their site.
