    This...

I was just going to let it go, but if someone was looking for advice on actually how to do it.

DON’T get a 4 year degree in a field that doesn’t pay well. Learn a trade in a Union preferably. Or even better 6 years in the Navy or another branch where you learn a trade.

Get into a high demand essential field (power generation is my personal choice).

Work Tons of hours when you’re young and live below your means. Carry NO BAD DEBT (what I consider any interest rate above the rate of inflation).

Buy a modest house with a short mortgage (15 years or less).

Maximize your retirement savings and investments.

like you we have no children and we both work, but that’s a personal choice I wouldn’t advise anyone on that either way.

Basically invest in yourself and make your money work for you. Don’t buy with bad loans or interest rates because of instant gratification. Probably the biggest factor is student loan debt. We have none but I have many friends that pay $1000 or even more a month and barely make any headway. Same goes for a Mortgage. Do the math on a 30 year loan at 3-4% interest on a 250k house. What you pay in interest will make you sick. Don’t give your money away because you couldn’t wait for something.

Obviously everyone skills differ but I would tell anyone who would listen to learn a trade and work union (where possible). YMMV.

    Yep. This right here.

brother is 17 right now welding and doing metalwork on the side while still finishing up high school. Saved up enough over the past few years to pay cash for a $20k duramax diesel with a flatbed and welding setup. Just gotta grind away. I wasn’t as smart his age but I’ve caught on now. Pay yourself first always and cash is king. Got my RAV4 about 3k under market value while during a vehicle shortage due to COVID. Unheard of for most Toyota’s due to little haggling, but all because I dropped cash. Got one of the last few RAV4 hybrids in the Phoenix area at the time with what I wanted.

    Kids are expensive AF.

Neighbor has one of these RAV4 Hybrids. I really, really dig it. Styling is much improved.

Not a sexy new hybrid, but I recently scored a 2011 VW Jetta Sportwagen TDI for $9100 with 63k on it. I drive it all over and get about 35mpg without making any attempts at hypermiling. The Tacoma (and its 13-14 mpg) sits in the driveway unless I’m hunting, scouting for hunting, or hauling stuff that won’t fit in the wagon.
