Decided to go with a new TRD Sport 4WD longbed.

I've been getting the impression the stock tires crappy so I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations on different tires the dealer might be able to swap out for me.

Use will be primarily pavement in north carolina with some dirt and muddy trails in the mountains for fishing and backpacking. Nothing hardcore or even moderate-core off-pavement. Wouldn't mind something a little more aggressive than stock but not appreciably sacrificing ride and mpg.

    thanks!

I swapped my Dunlops for Michelins after 8000 miles.

cooper st maxx in a 235/85/16 and you sir will be all set and very happy. these are about an inch taller than stock but samilar width. likely dealer won't do crap for you but over charge you for new tires, if they give some exchange see what brands they can work with and post those up here.

See if you can just get them to throw on a set of wheels and tires from a Baja.

Would it just be simpler and possibly cheaper to replace them myself after purchase? I've got no problem with that.

What tires come on the new TRD Sports? If they're the Dunlops, they suck! The Bridgestones aren't bad, I actually like of like them :anonymous:

OP said very little offroad, why would he want an off road tire? For what you describe, best ON-road tire is the ms2.

TRD catback exhaust, Undercover hard tonneau, Vent visors, Husky liners, customized seat covers, front license plate bracket, rear suspension TSB, Eibach springs w 5100s@0, & General Grabber AT2 (265.70.17).
I recently bought a set of General Grabber AT2s from TireBuyer.com. They'd be more aggressive than what you want, but the purchase experience was excellent. They offered free shipping and even referred 3 places close to me that would install. I happened to use someone else, but the prices were good. I have the same model, DCLB, and went up a size to 265.70.17.

I'm same as you. BFG All terrains do well for my 50 mile daily commute...not too loud, good grip on road whether wet or dry and off road they are great...many people are getting 50k+ out of them.

My MPG's didn't change, and if it did, it was negligible. Ride is a bit firmer, but I feel as though the truck handles better with them than the stockers.

Buy aftermarket right after purchase. Should be able to recoup most of the cost by selling the rims and tires on CL.
