What were the symptoms? Howling? Grinding? Car not moving? No offense but you have 2 whole posts.

another case of underfilled fluid? that's what has plagued the auto transmissions anyways.

I've heard from a good service writer at Toyota that he's seen a few taco's come in with locked up rear diff's. Didn't say exactly what caused it but did call me and tell me to have the rear diff level checked asap to be safe

here's the facts, truck is an SR Access cab,6 speed automatic, whining noise started at or around 500 miles, got worse at 3400,toyota dealer said the was normal, called corp.office, they said to take it to dealership, they drained and replaced fluild, noise still there, disconnected rear drive shaft, road tested,no noise heard.Hear's what they said, noise present under light acceleration,35-40 MPH..new differential on the way..case #162360055,dont put up with there crap, get back to dealer or call corp.office, get your case #

They really disconnected the rear drive shaft, put it in 4 wheel high and road tested it using only the front drive shaft? Does Toyota really allow them to do that?

    that's fucking crazy

I know there has been quite a few posts of howling rear ends I figured it was mostly in the Trd models.

The Sport and Off Road have different rear ends. Why would TRD make a difference?

Kinda was saying the higher end models, but if you want to be specific I thought the off road models were having more issues with the larger diff.
