There is a good group of people who are quite knowledgeable and helpful.

It's apocalyptic up here. My buddy's brother in law lives off the Orleans exit, Newport is literally full, and he had to shoo a 30 foot RV off his lawn

We were driving home on I-91 in Northern MA yesterday and there were definitely more vehicles than I usually see on that section of the road. Lots of CT, MD, NJ plates. I figured that's where they were headed.

Apologies for the suck pics, I couldn't get to crawling under the deck to get up close.

This is one of the good posts.

    This is the concern.

Post is part off the concrete. The guy who built it didn't sink the posts into the concrete footers..nor use the metal footer covers. Cheap ass.

I don't think moving the deck is an option and I damn sure ain't gonna try it, the problem one is right next to the pool as you can see so if I screw up I hit the pool.

Am I reading your original post correctly, that the 15' deck span is supported by only three posts?
If that is the case, then temporary supports and some reframing is in your future

Nope, my mistake. 6 total posts. Only 15 by 4 and just 2 people who use it.

I would just sister a post to the left of the existing post, running it from the concrete base up to as high as you can go, get some of those 6” heavy duty screws or if you really want to make it secure drill and put a couple lag bolts in there and call it a day. Should be relatively quick, cheap and pretty effective.

Edit: I would also check to see if you have any sagging at that post. If there is none the proceed with the advice above. If there is some then jack it up, shim it and then sister the post.

Getting prepped for a couple weeks in the woods.

I sure do love the Stihl 261cm, but I have a special soft spot for the old Homelite.

And to be perfectly honest about the little baby Echo, it's old, janky, and musty, but I got it for free and it works every time. I keep it in the truck during roadblock season and it will cold start on one pull even cold soaked below zero. It's one of those things you hate to love, I guess.

Finally moving along on getting my 4Runner fixed. I'm in a rental now. They initially had me in a 2021 Jeep Cherokee Limited, but it had a recall for control arms randomly detaching.

Now I'm in a 2024 Mazda CX-90. Not a bad vehicle once you turn off the driver assist shenanigans.

@mach1man001 how are you making out with insurance? Is the Tacoma fixable or did you have to get something new?

I sent him a text earlier because if it's getting fixed I have rocker panels for him. My neighbor needed to repair his but he sold the tacoma and bought a 5.7 tundra. So now I have the rocker panels if anybody needs them? But robs got dibs first

Much appreciated, gentlemen. I had actually wondered if a sister post might cut the mustard..it is a free standing deck not attached to the pool in any way. Pretty sure no sagging at that post but I'll throw down a 48" level and confirm. We had sagging a few years ago (which was the repair I mentioned) on one corner. That was the cheapass builder not using joist hangers and just shooting one nail into each joist from the outside of the frame..not even a fuckin ring nail mind you. Fortunately the repair fixed that and was done right.

    What broke on the 4R?

Been a theme I guess. Got my truck back Friday from the body shop..had to front the deductible and rental $$ but his insurance yesterday approved payment on those items in full
