    In 1995 I was looking at Dodge Ram pickups... wanted a Cummins 5.9L 12 valve diesel soooo bad! But the upgrade from a 1500 gas to 2500 diesel was almost 10 grand. Granted, gas was under a dollar a gallon and diesel was about $1.40... the math didn't work for me. $10K would have paid for a ton of gas!!!
