    Get a HP mini I use that and run open source when I have something to do. It what I did at the shop as well. Running a desktop is fine if its next to a dyno. But for street tuning and open sorce u must have a laptop

    Alex has more faith than me in changing the intake around. I don't believe all of what Dave had said was totally true though either. Manufactures do change around intake sizes and lengths as well as the shapes. Great example of this is the new Mustang. You can get a Cobra intake right from Ford that does increase horsepower quite a bit.
    By changing the intake runners you move around where the torque and horsepower are and how much you get but they are very specifically engineered. The longer intake runners are usually a different diameter as well as shape. When you increase the length of the intake runners you are increasing the velocity of the air flow. This will give your engine more air and a much better chance of running lean and blowing up the motor.
    Point is I will let people that are much smarter/better educated than I am design the intake lengths.

    Where is Seth when you need him? He could get his geek on (as he likes to call it). He would explain this much better than I could.

    I've read some pretty geeky stuff on the threads, but havent seen anyone produce calculations on the velocity and volume in relation to the fuel mixture... That stuff is way over my pay grade.

    I do find it hard to believe that a small passive change (1/2"-1") could put the truck into a lean state, and thus destroy the motor. But my beliefs are not grounded by engineering, so I could be waaaaaaaay off.

    Ferrari, I believe, does something even a step further. You can vary the intake runner length because different lengths are optimal at different RPM ranges. Ferrari has an adjusting intake runner that varies with RPM. Toyota, and most other manufactures, just make a single runner that works for a specific design range.

    What cobra? Lol the boss intake on the coyote gives the coyote power but you can't put a gt500 intake on a 5.0. The best way to see a gain in a manifold is a pnp having a composite intake it's about as smooth as it gets unless there is a few lines from when they are formed. These mods may give the engine HP and Tq but almost none of that will be felt

    Don't have to feel it in the butt dyno if I can feel it in my wallet. A couple extra HP&TQ down in the 1500 RPM range will suit me just fine ;)
