That blows. But to think if you paid that much shouldn't the quality be better?

Naw it's not a helmet cam, it's a still-photo camera (though it does do good video!)

I'll post some pictures when I get some effing bandwidth.

My max depth from the two dives we did so far was 122ft.

Nah the salt water fucks cameras with a vengeance. It's totally dead. :(. lens is stuck out and it doesn't power on at all..

When diving, it's not if, but when your equipment will fail. Shit happens! That's why you always plan ahead.

Hopefully the same mentality does not apply to the breathing apparatus!

Oh absolutely not hahaha. I take care of my regulators; they are my lifeline.

Just for Johnny I'll take some video this afternoon to show how shitty the conditions are here. Apparently there was a fire at the oil refinery on the island in 2010 and the polluted rain killed a good chunk of the reef system. Nemo, unfortunately, did not make it :(

I completely forgot about the salt when I said that. Maybe you could contact the manufacturer of the case, see if they will do anything for you.

Nah. I can insure it through my diver's insurance but the cost of coverage per year is a lot. I had the camera about 2 years, the insurance for the camera alone for two years is enough to buy myself a new an improved camera!

The manufacturer will say the same thing. Shit happens. There is a risk you take when you bring a perfectly good camera in the water. Hahaha. Even a piece of lint in the seal is enough to make the housing leak. It's sucky, but oh well. It happens to everyone, no matter how careful you are.

FYI i brought several electronics back from the dead after saltwater. A cannon powershot, iphone, and my digital windex. flush it out with distilled water maybe soak it a bit. Then place in rice ontop of subwoofer turn on (subwoofer testing music). rattle all the water out. Wait a few days then power up:D

How long were they in the water for? This housing leaked like a sieve at 122 feet all of a sudden. There was nothing I could do.

Also, I'm on an island. There is no distilled water. There is no sub woofer. There isn't time for me to spend on this. I've flooded a strobe (flash) last year and that was totally unsalvageable. It is what it is :/

The powershot was in the water for a a min maybe fell off the dock and i dove in an got it maybe 15ft deep. the phone was in a friends pocket for about 10 mins swimming around (DOH). the digital windex leaked at the beginning of the summer and was full of water not working till fall but its not exactly sophisicated only one moving part.
With your camera it may not work but its worth a shot and its cheap.
