Thought we sorta had something planned in July? For me it's more of a maintenance day.

Oh I wish - I got about three different construction projects going on right now which require me to be in the field by 7 AM, working until 5:30 PM or so (and I'm salary to cap it all off). All my projects are high profile too (lot of Town Council Members living on the same roads) and a lot of bitchy residents. Construction crews trying to cut more corners than I have ever seen and to top it all off, trying to close on a house right now which means mucho stress for Mr. Zach!

This week is already dragging its feet; how can it only be Tuesday?

Ahh the joys of being an adult - wish I knew about this life when I went to college for this.

Congrats on the house! Good luck with the closing, are you through all the home inspection and final negotiations yet?

I hear you about the salary crap. I'm usually 7:30 to 6:30 or 7:00 on salary but I knew to negotiate my salary based on a 50+ hour work week. You could probably count on one hand how many 40 hour work weeks I've had since I graduated college

Yeah we got the inspection done, some money escrowed on the side to fix a couple issues, negotiations are completed and the mortgage application submitted to the Lender for review/approval. We are going with a USDA backed mortgage which means no money down (we still put some down to have a little equity off the bat), a PMI of 0.4% and a fixed 30-year rate better than the conventional mortgages are running. I hear that the USDA office has about a two week lag time on their mortgage reviews so hoping that will not push off the closing date which is scheduled for July 30th. Once we get the written commitment for financing (I had to push of a raise because my wife and I are very close to the maximum family income to apply for the mortgage), we will have a USDA certified appraiser to the property to hope it appraises higher than we are borrowing; shouldn't be an issue but I have a tendancy to let things like this bother me more than they should.

Same here with the salary - I should have fought a 50 hour week! We have to bill our hours for the day in a time keeping software, if I am under 40-hours on Friday, I have to use PTO or find some miscellaneous non-bill time to fill it in. If I am over 40-hours, it's a hush hush from the boss because I donated some time. So is life....

While my part time job has the ebb and flow to it, try getting a phone call at 1am and having to deal with people who are shitass drunk.

Think they'll make the joke of pronouncing it wrong? Almost every band I've seen there does.

I can hear Jeremy Clarkson now, "And across the line in... 2 minutes.... dead! A new record for the slowest vehicle we've ever tested!"
