I like the idea of a snorkle just not the cutting involved. Plus it just looks out of place on a dd

Awesome. How much of a pain was it reassembling the leaf packs? What did you use for the spring retainer things, the OMD type of two pieces of flat stock with two bolts?

This. The name is laughable, it is really sucking in hot ass engine bay air. Plus they filter less than OEM. The factory intake is actually a "CAI".

I suppose it all depends on where the filter is or the path the air travels to the filter. Most people's idea of a cold air intake is replace the box with a cone filter. Yeah it sounds cool but hurts performance.

Toyota has much more money in R&D into it than an aftermarket brand
Not really. ever hear of heat soak? the metal tubing used on these kits sits in a baking hot engine bay while the filter may be else where. That tube is getting heat soaked but the ambient engine bay temps heating up the cold air that's from the fender. they are useless and suck up water. The factory intake on my 2.7 draws in air from the passenger side upper fender facing too the rear of the truck, no water getting in there. Seth open your door and look into fender with a flash light you can see the ducting.

I love my new truck but miss my Tacoma

I kept my factory overload that has one open at the top. Looks like a capital U with a flat bottom . Keeps then in place along with the u-bolts.

I never understood how the clamps he makes stay in place. Looks like they would move around and rattle.

Don't use metal tubing? The intake on the 2nd gens are the same way.

Don't know much about them. I work at a dealer and recommend OEM stuff and like to stick with OEM. If you wheel a lot in dusty areas you would be best sticking with OEM as it filters much better. On second gens you have the main filter than that little screen filter. I would stick with OEM and get a more free flowing exhaust with headers. I gained HP up top and 2mpg

^This. Allowing the motor to exhale better also allows it to inhale better. There's science and math involved, but that's the down and dirty of it.

    Pike,
I used the ProDRY drop in and liked it. I now have a TRD intake with the ProDRY in it and by itself seemed like I lost power. Gained it back and then some when I put the TRD cat back exhaust on.

If you want to breath good you need more air and it needs to get out fast and flowing free.

If you put headers on it'll blow your mind. Even on the old 2.7 the increase in performance was impressive. I can't wait to do the exhaust on this truck.

I hate salesman they try and get you on something you are not looking at. I scheduled a road test with the sales man for the 848EVO and what do you know they didn't have the one I wanted it sold no biggie right? BIG DEAL I road 2 bikes one I wanted to ride a 2013 Hypermotard SP easy for me it's what I am use to, riding position, torque and wind. Nothing special of new to me...Would i buy one yes but not for having a passenger. I really wanted to get on the road with the salesman for the 848evo what do they do...stick me on a 1199 Panigale same bike bigger engine and let me tell you I will never ever buy that bike, The torque is stupid, the speed is stupid everything about it is was too much for me. It road great and handled amazing but it is unforgiving. On a part of the road test the sales man said at a red light "this is the fun part" we merged on to I190 full song. pure adrenaline rush he took of and i caught up, never would i thought a road test would hit 104ish. we when got back he saw my arms shaking and i couldn't stop laughing about this bike. I told them I'll be back Monday for more about getting on an 848evo. I want to feel that bike and how the differences are.

You got a problem with that? I'm a sales man but for industrial power transmission equipment. I usually try to find something that a customer can get quicker and be just as good or better than what they ask for. That is if what they ask for is out of stock or out of production. But I also have to cold call people to try and get new business. It's just part of the job don't take it personally. Sales men try to get you want you want and only change things over when they can't in order to find a stand in.
