Yeah my sliders got a huge workout in August at the NTC Rausch takeover. Ask Rob about that... Lol. That was a FUNNNNNN trail! Sketchy at the time but fun looking back at it.

Other than that, the only use my sliders have seen recently was as steps and as an entertainment source when people throw their doors open into the side of my truck and get a huge new dent on their door thanks to my sliders!

Who here is into archery? Mike don't you shoot? Anyway, I've been doing target practice lately with my target bow. Problem is the arrows go straight through the target hay bale... Do any of you have a good homebuilt method? I don't want to waste money on a store bought target.

The bow is a bear kodiak w/50# draw.

I shoot quite a bit. I can't link it right now, but go to archerytalk.com and search for a rag target or DIY target. I have a target made from old clothes that stops my arrows moving 300fps. You can build one out of scrap wood and clothes really easily

Ok. Thanks guys. I figured the sliders would work well as steps and be more practicle than my steps

Hey rob would you be able to find a spindle for an 02 Tacoma with abs? Preferably with hub and bearing still in it? Turns out my tone ring sploded I found that out as I was swapping my CV. I was wondering why my abs has been on for ever....

I have an old "block" that is held together with duct tape but still works really well. You are welcome to borrow it

Fine not even a hiccup. I never would have figured out my hub was worn out if I didn't break it.

Have you tried taking a pair of ratcheting tie-downs and cinching the haybale up? I had a friend in high school who shot a bow, and he did that with his haybales. By the time he got done ratcheting them down they were only about 1/2 size, and a LOT denser. He said it was cheaper than buying the foam targets. :notsure:
Me personally, I was never able to do much more than hit the edges of the target, so I can't speak with any certainty for how effective it is.:(
Being that bad of a shot with a bow was especially frustrating to a teenager who could nail quarters at 50 yards with iron sights on a rifle. Took me down a peg or two, he did.

that's genius! how do you contain the shirts? burlap sack? I'll check that site! Thanks!
I'll bring the bow over some time! it'd be awesome to tap into your knowledge base!
I'll have to try that, I was thinking of compressing some cardboard, or rolling it up really tight. I'm a pretty lousy shot, it's been long enough I have to relearn a couple things...

Try Noelie's suggestion. A 50# bow shouldn't go through a tight hay bale. I haven't shot a bow in years, like probably at least 15 years. I do miss it but prefer things that go bang now.

Sorry, I didn't get that measurement for you. Kendra left me alone with the little one tonight (1st time being on my own with him) and he's been fussy pretty much since about 6:00, when I got home. Finally logged on now and he's laying next to me, have to type with one hand and hold the pacifier in his mouth with the other one. I have a lot of work to do on the truck tomorrow and can measure for you.

The hay bale trick does work. I used to stack 4 length-wise and tighten the twine down for a backstop and a piece of cardboard on the front for the target. I never used a ratchet strap, just tightened the twine but the strap idea is a good one. If that still doesn't stop it, get a piece of Masonite and put it at the back of the hay. It's soft enough to where it shouldn't do any damage to the arrow but should stop it.

Cardboard works well also, if you can find an industrial place that has bales of cardboard, those are great but can be tough to get arrows out of.
