I noticed it, I just kind of assumed they were National Guard vehicles and not MSP. Don't really see a reason MSP would need that hardware.

Most of it's military surplus that the municipalities get for free. The only condition is that they give it back to the military when they've finished using it.
That being said, some of the police forces that are ordering these things really don't need them. I mean, the Oxford County Sheriff's department just ordered an armored personnel carrier. I can think of very few municipalities who need one of those LESS than Oxford.

I wasn't really paying attention to it, just that it was there in general. I just figured the guard brought them since they had unarmed guard guys helping look for the DB.

I've heard updates once in a while, but nothing in a couple weeks now. I believe he's still waiting to stand trial. Too bad the sharp shooter missed, coulda saved us a lot of money!

There's a big jump between a bar fight and any situation in which you would need an armored vehicle... I would challenge you to try to remember ANY situation in the last 10 years which called for the legitiment use of armored vehicles. Even the Boston shut down looking for DB 1 and 2 could have been executed perfectly fine with standard police vehicles.

If you recall, the armored trucks weren't the ones chasing the car throwing bombs out the window, they were the crown vics. The armored vehicles didn't come til later when they shut the city down and they were mostly just over glorified road blocks.

Hey, here's a novel idea, how about you try coming into this thread just once without trying to start a shitstorm. You need to get laid or something man, you've been a jackass lately.

yeah because you're a fucking asshole, who knows nothing about what he spews, and spews fucking constantly about bull shit. its a waste of money for PD's to not get those vehicles, as the government would throw them away with 10k miles on them. please research what you're talking about before you go off and say stupid shit. it really makes you look like a taint.

obviously armored trucks aren't going to pursue vehicles. that's not what they are for. they are for high risk situations, like when the asshole barricades himself, and has proved to be armed and willing to kill everyone.

whatever, clearly you don't fucking get it. stick to your engineering job, and don't worry about why other professionals do what they do, since you don't know anything about it.

You came in and started the shit storm. If you don't care, just move along. It's not that difficult. Maybe you should find a Tundra forum to troll instead.

I'm not trolling, Mike. What if people came in here and said, "that's bull shit how much paper and pens engineers go through every day. what a fucking waste of time and money." you'd take offense to it too. when in reality, its not a waste of time or money, and there is a legitimate purpose for it. but, because none of us know anything about it, and just run our mouths, you'd feel like what the fuck, assholes? I don't make fun of what any of you bums do for work, so get the fuck off my dick. I'm offering an honest explanation for something people here know little about, and are quick to insult that whole LE profession about. It's bull shit.
