Might be your hint that you're phasing out of the under 30 thread and need to step up to the old timers thread

One day, that'll blow up on your boss. With the way vehicles are made these days, he won't make it to 100k miles many more times with that sort of maintenance routine.

yeah, I actually made that point as well.

As for the boss's truck, the reason I found out about this is because he lurched his way into the parking lot today with his truck knocking like a bastard. I had him pop the hood, pulled the dipstick, and was greeted by a coating of what looked like 120wt axle grease and a smell like burning tires.

Store it better. What I do in the early spring.
    Change the oil
    Change oil filter (if applicable)
    Run it
    Fog oil it
    Drain tank
    Drain the bowl
NEVER leave any engine with no oil. Next season there's a surprise storm you rush to go move some snow and send that connecting rod out the block.

Exactly like dealers do shady work all the tone. I'm guilty of it but it's making me more $. Like today a customer requested a coolant flush on their 09 Altima. What do I do. Pull the lower hose, make a mess, put it back on, cut the concentrate in half pour it in why a BG water pump lube (some product they upsell idk) run it and that's it. drain and fill no flush machine. The flush pays 1.4 the drain and fill takes .4 but I still get paid 1.4 and when I'm done I pull in something else still making that extra hour ontop of what I'm doing now.

Drain the bowl is a big one. From what I understand they are now putting drains on the bowl with the new ones with the junk fuel they have now.

Lotta work but I'd throw longer studs on. I mean a hammer and some washers with 2 hours of time. Done.

    X2.
Plus, if you ARE in fact being a douche and doing that, bragging about it on the internet isn't a solid plan, since it would technically constitute fraud. Not only could it get your ass fired, but it could land you some serious fines and possibly some jail time.

Not to mention it likely does nothing to endear you to the folks on here.

:ohsnap: shit just got real, and I agree fully. As it is I don't trust the dealer. I go into the shop if they are doing anything major (like a trans flush) to make sure they follow the FSM. I trust Woburn foreign motors, but I still watch like a hawk because I don't wanna be fucked over

On another note. I might trade my truck for a 98 Nissan Maxima

Snapper manual just says run out the gas, drain the oil, squirt some oil into the cylinder and pull the cord a couple times. I stick with the mfg reccs

And that is case in point why I don't trust any mechanic to work on my truck...

A lot of carbs have drain screws, my bikes have always had them, same with the mowers and snow blowers I've owned although I never drain anything. I do not drain the tank or the carbs, I leave them full to the brim. Metal tanks can rust if you drain them, they won't if they're full. I use some additives to keep the ethanol from separating from the gasoline and I haven't had any issues with any of my engines starting after sitting for a season.

Might be trading my bike for a Maxima and $500 lol. Sarah is then buying the maxima from me. But I might steal it from her haha.

In theory I'm trading Sarah my truck for the fuel sipping manual... Temporarily

at first yea i was like wtf, but you should know, your not getting paid by the hour when your low on jobs and its getting busy you're going to cut some corners.
Doubt I'd get fired, If I did I'd go back to my previous job and work on $100,000 muscle cars and top fuel dragsters. We are often even told to cut corners. Ex Wiring for a tow package the SM will tell us to butt connect it together I dont listen on that, Ive been told to drain and fill on a tranny flush because the machine broke (Left a note in cupholder) they came back a week later saying it wasn't flushed. Told to leave an Oil filter in a mini cooper because no one had one around . Hm what else do dealers do thats shady...Oh the fuel induction cleaner a co-worker said he was told to brake clean a vac line:eek:. 7.3 came in with a rotted leaking oil pan SM said we would weld it had me JB weld and paint it. I dont trust any dealer they cheap out all the time. Our LOFS on warranty cars get the OEM filter out of warranty they get carquest reds, and AutoLites cheap crap. I work as a tech because I enjoy what i do and like my pay.

    ****
When I am not at work, I have been told my work is excellent. Even at work it is as well, I don't like to rush anything but I do work at a faster pace at work. I work slow at home and on others cars I don't own. I don't own them at work either but if something breaks or is broken the dealer will up sell something I broke and turn it around and say "oh the tech noticed that your o2 harness is ripped and will need a new sensor" when the torch was close. If I did this at home or on my truck I wouldn't be driving or making money. I usually don't break anything I try not too but there are days when I fuck something up. Worst was wheel was frozen on so the BFH ballpeen came out. Swung from the front facing rear looking at the pumpkin missed and hit the inner bed side. I normally break my tools before a car. Snap-On. But like torque specs engine all to spec, thicknesses and engine internals all mic'ed i don't care I'll take my time. big suspension bolts and higher tq items all get full power impact. Tq patterns all followed. Tq sticks used most evey car i put gray 100FT-lbs, 1/4-/1/2tons 120FT-lbs by hand, full floaters and dually pick ups 160 stick, Highway trucks 300ft-lb gun
