My first truck, an older Ford Ranger, didn't have power steering. I had a wheel spinner on it, otherwise, when it got fishtailing, I couldn't spin the wheel fast enough to correct it!

In Alex's defense though, a vehicle that was set up without power steering will usually turn over 3 times each direction, it's a low ratio so you have leverage. A vehicle that has power steering and it fails suck plain sucks to turn. You end up fighting it 100% of the time.

    Easy now....upset the "little dahlin's " :p

    My '59 Mack B-model had no p/s or AC...How did I survive ???

My 1st Toyota p/u ,an '85 had a 4 speed, manual locking hubs,AM ONLY radio and NO p/s or AC but survived teaching 3 younger brothers "how to drive stik"......Almost forgot...dual handles on the tailgate...needed to unlatch both for it to come down...;)

GM's 1st approach at that was J-bodies and our high school auto shop visited the Mass assembly plant ...We were in AWE  watching assembly lines put cars out at great rates until the end;;; Dyno test showed just how BAD these cars were....one out of every 10 BLEW on the dyno...we sadly watched them get pushed to an awaiting section of "New Junk"..

I have NEVER nor will I ever own a GM product for just that reason....it starts at the TOP and if the QC is by the NUMBERS...No thanks...

My Fiero didn't have power steering. Only sucked while parallel parking. But the car was light, and the weight of the engine wasn't on the front tires.

I have a heavy ass bumper, skids, an engine and more.

Go into your trucks, turn the key to the on position but don't start it, then try to turn the wheels. It's almost impossible.

Plus your wagon is most likely heavier than our trucks to start with.

More than likely it is. My frame is a bit beefier to protect the rear passengers and the 3rd row (if I had the 3rd row). So my frame is fully boxed. Also, roof ain't light. I know my tailgate is over 100lbs

NSFW is unfortunately very strict in 'Murica these days. I don't like it but I understand it and that the mods don't want it. Granted I shouldn't be on TW at work but that's what lunch is for..
