I agree with the fun to drive part, though. For such ugly gutless little cars they have real zip on dirt roads. Pretty easy to control at speed too, really. Plus there's the added bonus of not being able to SEE the car while you're driving it.

    FTFY, :D
GM cars of that vintage were like the K-Cars of the 80's. Same parts, different badges.

I love my new truck but miss my Tacoma
Parents gave me a '74 pinto that I said thanks and sold for $100. Bought my real first car a '75 Ford Maverick that looked like this. Not my pics

Always wanted to make it look like this.

I got rid of that and bought my all time favorite car. '83 VW Scirocco. Not mine but almost exactly the same (except for the euro lights).

Haha it was basically the same car. But it was a good car too. Had no problems with it either. Sold it in 09 after driving it through college with 150k on it for $4000. I know people here like to bash gm, but ive always found them to be reliable.

Whatever youngin, say what you want. First one went to 250k with nothing but normal maintenance. Head gasket blew, I replaced it and it ran like a top again. 02 sunfire never did anything but change the oil and blower motor resistor at 130k. Drove it to 150k and traded it in on an 09 cobalt ss turbo. Had the cobalt for a few years, only put about 30k miles on it. Didn't drive it in winter, bad weather etc... since I have a 92 toyota pickup and had a work truck. I beat the piss out of at track days, auto x, tail of the dragon. I ran it at 5500rpm+ all day long at tail of the dragon, devils triangle, etc... not one problem.

Wife has an 05 grand prix. Its up around 180k or so. She got it with 15k miles on it in college. Other than change the oil, brake pads etc..,only things done to it have been 1 set of plugs/wires at 100k, some stupid emissions pump last winter, new serpentine belt last winter, and new battery last winter. That's it. The ac just stopped.working this summer and we didn't bother to fix it.

Pretty damn good if you ask me. And she drives that thing like its a nascar race.

my friends chevy 1500 is still going strong after 7+ years of his abuse. he fishes so brings it out on the sand, and generally doesn't maintain it at all. it's at close to 200k now. it's impressive how well it works and how long it's lasted. especially since it was his dads before, and he was a commercial fisherman. it's been used hard.

The ecotec line of engines in jbodys and delta platform cars (cobalt and g5) is an absolutely fantastic motor. They run forever, are reliable as hell, and are easy to work on. The rest of the cars might be rental car plastic, but the engine/ drivetrain are excellent

Don't get me.wrong, I love my Tacoma. But lets not forget, the venerable 22r/re has the timing chain issue, and the 3vz was a piece of crap....

A slew of pricey stuff my wife hates me for.
First car was a 92 or 93 white Geo Storm. Had the POS 4-banger, which I would add a 1-gallon can of ethanol with every fill up. That little car on alcohol got me a ton of speeding tickets. Sold it with the valves all burnt to hell.
