I'm still waiting on Dodge/Jeep to see what they come up with. There was a lot of hype about their slated V6 diesel but after the initial advertising, it's been radio silence and I don't think it ever got released. I wonder if the same will happen with Nissan :notsure:

I'm with you though, I'd like to see the new competition just to shake things up in the half ton category. The Ecoboost sort of did it and Chevy responded by making their 5.3 more fuel efficient, I'd love to see what happens if a diesel hits the market and competes.

I just realized my Mom's birthday is on the 19th. I'm still game if it's early afternoon, but later in the early evening would be out for me. Regardless, I'd definitely at least make an appearance to say hello if the time works.

Harbor Freight machete and a grille would have trumped all of it though!

Have you guys noticed the new home depot line of tools, probably aimed at competing with harbor freight? I started noticing the HDX brand in home depot awhile ago all sorts of stuff but now they have HDX tools. My buddy told me the other day they were selling a 4 pack of trim guns for something like $80-$90. 16 gauge trim gun, brad gun (18 gauge) pin nailer and stapler. Thinking about picking it up and seeing if they are any good to prolong the life of my nice nail guns.

Edit: here they are, 4 guns for less than my pin nailer costs, which is a sweet tool!

Yeah the top of the line grand Cherokee was supposed to have a diesel but nothing happened. Probably because people who want a diesel are not going to buy the top of the line vehicle.

I would shit my pants if Toyota finally came out with either a Hino Tundra or Tacoma. Preferably with a third pedal.

Most Mercedes, BMWs and Audis in all the other parts for the world are diesels. I don't know what's wrong with us Americans; we don't like good gas mileage?

I don't know either! All these tree huggers complaining about emissions when diesel burns cleaner and is more efficient. Diesel makes some good power too!

A turbo diesel inline 6 Tacoma or a turbo V8 tundra would be incredible!

I drove a diesel Hilux 5 speed in Bonaire. It was awesome! Lots of torque! I ended up prerunning it in the state park (big dirt track with whoops. 5mph speed limit though... Lol) it was a bunch of fun til the rusty leaf mount (front mount for the rear axle) snapped off the frame and the exhaust rattled lose. Those vehicles rust out quick in the tropical zones with all the salt and humidity.

Simply put, your average bear thinks of diesel as the smudge pot stinkers of yesteryear that make a fricking racket..or just big rig trucks that you can see the smoke pouring out of and smell a mile away.

It would be nice to see a diesel. But the Hilux's current 3.0L i4 turbo diesel probably wouldn't do so well here against the 4.0L V6. 170hp/260lb-ft vs 240hp/260lb-ft. Diesels are bigger, so a v6 or i6 might not fit so well in the current sized engine bay.

We don't have a tax structure that punishes gasoline buyers to encourage diesel development/sales.

Oh like the ones that we have for Hybrids? I never understood Hybrids. People think there good for the environment because of the good gas mileage but never account for all the acid, lead and whatever other environmental hazards they carry around in those hugh batteries.

I dunno...Mate it to an appropriately geared transmission I bet it'd do ok. Or maybe if they designed one that was of similar dimensions to the old 3.4l and gave it two turbos...

The hybrids use Lithium Ion batteries. Lead-acid batteries would weigh so much that you'd lose everything you gained from the extra efficiency.
