If you can new is definitely the way to go. I have heard (no real life experience) that Subaru owners are like 1st gen people and don't want to give them up. So used are hard to come by, well atleast not a lot of options

We love the Subie I bought for my wife, and you're spot on with dealers. Tri-City in Somersworth has been top notch in every aspect of sales and service, whereas just down the road in Exeter you're going to pay a couple grand more for the same exact vehicle.

I think new is the way to go, warranty is a must. We shopped the used market and to find exactly what we wanted we needed to go new anyway to get it, so it all worked out.

Thanks for the chime-ins, everyone! Yeah, we're looking to go new and for the 2.5. I'd like a fresh car to begin taking better care of it right from the start. I don't think either one of us would do a used vehicle at this point given our location - who knows what the local yoke's did or didn't do to their cars. I think we're stuck with the few dealers we have local. Not a lot of choices up here. No experience with them so if we go this route they better play nice...

BRZ would be cool, but never make it up our driveway. Even the future Forester will have issues on the icy days. I get my Taco stuck once or twice a year if I get home from work and try to play/go up without plowing the fresh snow off the ice packed drive way - 300 feet, all hill, right angle turn in the middle. What can be bad with that:rolleyes:

My dad had a 79 wagon with actual 4WD, and that thing was a little beast. My mothers 86 wasn't too bad, but threw the timing belt at 60k (they all did it). My wife had a 2001 outback sport, and I got so pissed off at it I ran it over with my Tacoma (it was a rust-bucket as well). We absolutely love the 2010, and we're almost at 50k on it. The ride is a little mushy in hard cornering, so I'm looking forward to installing some new performance struts whenever the oem ones wear out. AWD and some good tires, can't stop a Subie.

    Thanks Bill.

My mother had an '89 FWD Loyale wagon that was a tank in the snow and was reliable as hell. Never a problem. They finally sold it with over 200k because the rear body looked like swiss cheese. They got a used 2002 Outback 2.5 w/120k on it, put new headgaskets in it twice, and traded it on a brand new 2005. That car's still going strong, but it's got nearly 100k on it now and I'm getting nervous for them that they'll be seeing the head gasket problem rearing its ugly head again. I've told my dad probably 20 times now "if it starts overheating, trade it in"
    We'll see.

My family has had 10 Subaru's - not one head gasket issue and they've had some pretty high miles on a few. We still have 6 between my wifes, parents, sisters, sisters kids, cousin, blah, blah, blah. Right now wifey is running a 2010 Forester XT. Damn fast when the turbo kicks in. I personally would get a turbo or H6 as the 4 bangers are a little underpowered going up hills on the highway for my taste.

Depends on where in the garage you are.
I have these mounted right on the junction boxes in the garage part of my garage.

And I have these in my workshop in the garage
    http://www.homedepot.com/p/Commercial-Electric-Rugged-2-Lamp-Hanging-Fluorescent-Gray-ShopLight-CESL402-27/203725928#

If I was going to do it over I'd have chosen wall-mounted lighting, for the workshop, though. Having the lights directly over my work surfaces is nice, but it seems like I'm always whacking the ceiling-mounted stuff with lumber. I may or may not have taken a couple of mercury showers. :spy:

I'll stop in and say hello.

I have a Subaru as well as my Tacoma. It's fun, but if I were to strip the performance out of the car, I'd have little to no interest in it outside of the good AWD capabilities. Granted, that's why 95% of the people typically buy them (unless they want a wagon), I'd think.

I find their overall fit/finish/quality to be lacking compared to comparable Honda/Toyota/Nissans in terms of interior quality/paint quality/etc. The boxer motors are also so loud. If I didn't have a stack of UOAs from Blackstone to tell me otherwise, I'd swear I had bearing issues in mine, but I've had multiple reports with no signs of metal, no oil consumption and a bunch of hard miles.

If you want a fun turbo car or if you're looking for something for the snow, I wouldn't blink.

Johnny- industrial fluorescents w/cold start ballasts (needed to throw the arc when it's stupid cold). Plenty of lumens, easy to mount between joists to keep them safe, cheap bulbs.

Lol, that makes it sound very professional.
"dear, would you like to schedule a meeting to schedule our next session of coitus?"

"Certainly honey. Would saturday at 2pm work? I'll have my secretary call you to work out the details."
