I thought that the "1st gear/low range" combo in my '99 Tacoma TRD was low & slow.
I just was shoving some snowbanks back with the Yeti (our nickname for the '84 Dodge plow truck we just picked up) in 4-hi and for gits and shiggles I dropped it into low range. I swear to god, that "low range/low gear" combo was the slowest I've ever gone in anything that has a motor. It didn't even tickle the needle on the speedometer.
No wonder rock crawlers love the NP435 trannies. I've even got 3:55 gears in my axles. I can't even imagine how slow she'd go with some 4:10's, let alone some rock gears.

 

I was just got home. Didn't think it was that bad, slow and steady in the middle lane and didn't have any problems

x2, I didn't think it was bad at all. I didn't even touch 4wd the whole way home. I was surprised to see how much snow was on the ground when I got home.

You'll be fine, the amateurs will be off the road by then.

I had at least 4" of snow on the ground when I got home at 6. People were driving so slow. I was doing 10-12 in a 40.

 

I didn't hit anything until the Hampton tolls, and it was only flurries there

 

Got about 6 inches of the angel puke here..driving is okay though, I took Linda's Rav4 4wd to the store and only slowdown was when I was behind a town plow truck.

 

Frustrating. Once I hit the real snow I just cruised along in the middle lane of 495 at 50-55. Snow was nice and light, no 4wd needed. Around 3-4" here when I got home around 745

We have at least 6 inches here, just cleaned the vehicles off and shoveled. Cars were covered again when i was done shoveling.

 

I just blew off the driveway, there's a good 6 inches out there now I'd say. It's really light and fluffy. The snow stopped while I was out there so I'm guessing there's another wave coming. Turns out I'm right on the 7-10 and the 10-14 line.

 

Pretty much. I had my share of fun on the way home
