And yet, still better than my state. Nearly everyday I get cut off and almost t-boned. No one seems to be aware of stop signs, or yellow lights. What the hell does one way mean? Two lane road around a corner? Can't tell you how many times I've almost been side swiped because someone can't follow the outside lane. And that's only about half of it.

I see it all the time! The understanding and use of your own lane in a 2 lane turn/ turning right/ left onto a two lane road is < 0... The amount of people who do not know how to merge/ use intersections is mind boggling.

    Lol.
I actually didn't have any trouble in RI. Of course, I just took Rt. 1 from CT over to Newport/Portsmouth area on my way to Cape Cod. I think I spent all of 45 minutes actually IN Rhode Island.

You didn't miss anything. It only takes 45 minutes to drive the length of RI if you take your time.

That's the plan! Most of the reason I didn't ride this past year was because Kendra was pregnant and I didn't want to risk it (that and I was busier than hell with the wedding, honeymoon and then Joseph being born). My only hesitation with getting a pop up is storage.
I used to have a CBR and had a similar problem so I sold it and bought the Katana. The Kat is probably faster but it's more of a sport tourer. It makes a lot of it's power lower in the RPM range but will still scream at 10k RPMs if you want to go. The clutch kit didn't help things because now you get great, positive gear changes. I resprung it for my weight also so it handles a lot better than stock also.
Hopefully the desk job will change also. I'm not supposed to be a desk jockey but the current project I'm working on migrated me toward it. I still play soccer a couple times a week and get the dog out for walks and hikes. When Joseph gets older, I'll start taking him on bike rides and hiking with him. I'll get one of those silly bike wagons :)

DUMB A$$ drivers are everywhere .....

Making a recycle run across town and almost got clipped by a DA Lady driver that was leaning into her seat  crossing 2 lanes in the wrong direction .....We then head into town to drop donated tools off and a BIMBO in a SCION almost broadsides me; she was going to BLOW a red light until my TACOMA horn awakened her...She proceeded to give me the LOOK.. with age i must be mellowing as my wife could not believe my restraint....I waved a full hand at both and just drove away...;)

Either you southern folks are migrating into NH or DUMB A$$'s exist in ALL STATES...:p

I noticed keeping a constant speed was difficult with my CBR as well

I didn't have a problem holding a constant speed with my CBR, the problem was that constant speed was usually in the triple digits... We used to mess around on the tighter back roads where I grew up and try to hold a constant speed down the whole run of road. We'd set a speed, say 60 MPH and see if we could hold it down the whole road. Now keep in mind, these stretches of road had quite a few 25 MPH rated corners so it was no small task in most cases.

    Troof.

    Proof
    :D

Don't get me wrong, I've done some pretty stupid stuff on motorcycles before. Hence my self-limitation to cruisers and a Ninja 250 (it redlines at 14k and corners so hard that I've dragged heels, pegs, and exhaust pipes in corners, but if you try to go faster than 110 it'll explode)

    Huh.
    Have not seen those.
We used to sell a "jumpstarter" at the parts store I worked at that was roughly the size of an red delicious apple, but square. We tested that thing out on an employee's Neon. Hooked it up and it said "Click-click-Nope-clunk-click-Nope-fuckyou-nope"

    Perhaps these are better?
They say "200amp jump start port". Is that CCA, CA, or just amps? The battery in my Tacoma is rated for 675CCA and 850CA, I think. Not sure it'd cut the mustard. It might jump start my motorcycle, though.

    :notsure:

    On a battery related note.

Anyone here have any experience with the Deltran Battery Tender Jr? I got one for Christmas and I'd like to just use it on my car in the garage during the winter but I keep reading the "my buddy's friend's uncle's neighbor lost his garage" stories. I have it hardwired but I haven't plugged it in.

I was thinking for the mean time just removing the battery and keeping it hooked up in my hose so I can monitor it, but I'd much prefer to leave it plugged in in the garage. From what I've read the Battery Tender has circuitry that doesn't charge the battery past full charge and is fused to protect everything.

    Any thoughts?

Meh. If it's got an overcharge protection you shouldn't have anything to worry about. Usually those fires occur when a battery gets overcharged and it combusts (ala Boeing Dreamliner).

If you're really worried about it you can put up sheetrock in the garage around your truck and install one of those fusible links (the ones that melt when they detect a fire) that they install over boilers.

I've run a battery tender for about 4 years now as a charger on my battery backup sump pump. A coworker has 2, one for his old car and another for his bike. I'm actually getting one for my classic car.

That's reassuring to hear. I might have to pop out my battery and charge it up then and once it's back up to normal, throw it on the tender.
