our local metal fabricator who does incredible 2nd gen bumpers. I saw Evan's the other week. That is gonna be a SICK bumper

I've been spraying my frame with a spray grease religiously since i bought the truck in 2007. Not a speck of rust on my frame. So i thought. I jacked up my truck last week to check it out for Toyotas infamous growling front diff bearing. To my surprise there it was. Flaking frame syndrome next to the cats. I just touched it and a whole circle of frame fell off- the size of a half-dollar at least. It rusted from the inside out. PISSED OFF!!! So i went to Toyota Monday to get their thoughts on my frame. They showed me a 2005 with over 230k miles on it, currently in the shop getting a frame replacement, with less rust than mine. He brought it in for an oil change and THEY told the owner about it. I asked how much it's costing the guy and he said $0. I said cool, sign me up!! They brought it in for official pictures and stuff.Well today(Friday) i went back and they told me there would be a $1000 deductible. NOT HAPPY!!! He said the other was probably charged either $500 or $1000 "not sure." "There are many variables that go into it" I'm thinking yeah like if he bought the truck there and had his truck worked on at the stealership the whole time or not. So the big question is what should i do?? 1)Pay the $1000 now and boost the value of my truck or 2)wait and hope for a frame recall or 3) cut out the rust and weld a thick plate in there and clean it up like new. Please share your thoughts- Thanks

I would go to another dealer or call Corporate. If you have a hole in your frame they have traditionally fixed it on their dime. And only charge you $$$ to replace things that they will have to take apart anyway.

 

After you wheel it for awhile you may want to Vist Ocean State Crawlers or Central Mass and get some wrap around tube welded on to protect your quarter panels.

 

Damn that sucks!

I would wait a little bit and file a claim with Toyota corporate.

Your frame isn't going to fail any time soon

 

It was $436. Not a bad price. And that includes the shipping.

 

Yeah i might think about that later on down the road. We shall see how it bolts up and handles.

I did a hardwood strip flooring in my game room. Wasn't too expensive and went down fast.

Tile saws aren't that bad. Mine isn't top of the line but for $50 or so at Job Lot it doesn't have to be for the rare time I use it

Ironically enough, I wheeled a LOT before I got the bumper. I've only wheeled twice with the new bumper... I must change this!
