That is a great place to avoid. Unless you enjoy being hopelessly stuck and fined lol.

    Hi guys,
The wheels on my Tacoma are bubbling, pitting, and in a couple small spots the top layer is flaking off. I am reading that it is fairly common in salty coastal areas like ours. Worst case scenario I get tired of the wheels and upgrade(pricey). I would like to know if I have any other options to reduce/repair the problem myself? Thanks for any input.

If you have a warranty, SOMETIMES they will replace them for you.

The stock wheels get REALLY bad with salt

I gotta see if they will replace my compass before my warranty runs out. Only 400 miles left.

93 is crazy like that. Traffic on that road is terrible at all sorts of odd times for no reason at all.
Get it documented the, even if the milage runs out, they're still on the hook because they'll have a documented case of the problem while it was still in warranty.

You can unplug your gauge cluster too. No miles recorded.

    I hate 93.

Wheel paint? I scuffed, painted, and cleared an old steel wheel just to see how it would come out and I have to say it looked pretty good. I chose a graphite color though. Just a thought.

My whole life is about avoiding 93. When I have to go into the city I take the train. Annoying but at least nobody dies because I kill them.

Well upon inspection of the wheel up on jacks (drivers side) the wheel spins freely, no play and makes no noise. So kinda sure not the bearing. Where the drivers side cv axle goes into the diff it has alot of play. ALOT of play. Like 1/8-3/16 inch. pass side has under 1/8. I shouldn't be driving it but sometimes i have no choice. Got to order the bushing kit from ECGS. I keep having to turn the radio up louder and louder. The only thing i'm hung up on is that it still makes noise in 4X4. maybe because it is so bad??

I was so happy with finishing my 5100 install this week and then putting in the 1" Ready-Lift Blocks yesterday (don't judge). I washed, clay barred, and waxed my Taco. Detailed everything. It's like having a new truck.

But then this happened when I tried to put the garage door up...

LOUD! Now I need to get a garage door repair company to change that torsion spring. Not something I want to mess around with.

At least the Taco is back in shape after a tough winter!

Be sure to change both springs, not much more money to do them together.

My door only has one spring. It's a torsion type spring that sits on a shaft above the door. Way too much work to do myself. You are correct, though, to change both springs on conventional overhead doors.

When I moved in in September I had a 2 bay garage with both doors working.

In December I lost the opener on the side my truck is on, so no big deal, swapped sides with the Subaru and went about my normal life. Two weeks ago the opener broke on the other side. Truck's been outside since, it's too much of a pain to go around the back of the garage to open it up for daily use.

I'm going to break open the boxes in a few weeks to take a gander at the gears and see what's going on. I have a feeling that I've got a box full of stripped gears. I'll see if I can't rebuilt it, if not, time to start saving for new openers.

Spent all day outside enjoying the beautiful weather. Gave the car a quick shakedown to see how it's running. It needs some love, but it'll get there. Swapped the BFGs back onto the Tacoma and stored the snow tires. Looks SO much better it's unreal.

Took a gander at my frame. So far so good with the Fluid Film treatment. I have a few small rust spots from where rocks have chipped off the coating which I may touch up, but for now, it's looking pretty good.

Now I'm just waiting to hear back on the estimate to repair/replace the sill in my garage and see if I have enough cash to spring for the ARB.

OR disconnect the openers and install a lift handle on the front.
