It all depends on what you are looking for. The lower cape is nicer and quieter imo, but down to far and P-town is openly and aggressively gay. The mid cape is a good mix of quiet, mini golf/trampolines and pubs/restaurants

Lol. They make a point of letting you know it is their town. Also a lot of dudes in drag. Do you remember the old gum that was supposed to look like gold nuggets and it came in a little bag with pull strings? Yeah that was acceptable attire to walk around with covering your junk

My guess is to stay for 4 nights, you're probably not looking to rent a house as they typically go weekly or longer. If your more of a "motor inn drive up to the front door" type then you'll find more of them around Hyannis/Dennis. That's where it's more commercial. The downside is the traffic. Hyannis in July sucks. If you like B&B's or smaller hotel style then Harwich out to Orleans. There's several really nice hotel/B&B places in Chatham. I go to North Chatham annually. Although I'm biased, I think Chatham is one of the nicest towns on the cape. To me, true Cape Cod is north Truro. Nothin' but the beach. For beaches, I prefer Coast Guard, Nauset or Head of the Meadow. If you don't have kids and and want a good chuckle, go to P-town after dark... It's been a long time since I've been on a whale watch but the closest to Stellwagon bank is from P-town. Crossing the bridge on the weekends is easiest on Sunday mornings. On to the cape before about 11:00, off cape before 9:00am. If you're coming up 495 I'd go over the Borne bridge and use the 6A connector which is on the cape side instead of going onto 6 (mainland side) and going over the Sagamore.
