Geotech/ Civil. Came from a geotech firm, now I'm a transmission line engineer, mostly design foundations for steel monopoles and lattice towers, but I also dabble in T-Line design.

 

I suppose quasi-civil. T-Line design has very little to do with civil engineering. It's own niche of engineering that is far different from anything else.

I hate civil engineers who design shopping plazas to "flow" by designing in lots of blind curves and blind intersections that are inherently dangerous.
What the hell's wrong with clear sightlines and straight lines?!
Don't know if you've ever been on it, but Stephen King Drive/Xavier loop in Augusta is a perfect example of a civil engineering clusterfrack. Lots of unnecessary road curvature that doesn't serve to slow traffic down or make driving through the plaza more pleasant, it only serves to generate lots of accident-prone and dangerous spots.

Doing civil-site engineering would make me want to gouge my eyes out. So boring

 

Maybe that explains why there's so many horrible, horrible designs...

 

Those aren't engineers... They're over-glorified traffic consultants. The civil engineering bit, as far as I'm concerned, is after that dumbass gets his layout done, we'll design the road section so it stays there for a very, very long time. We learned a little about traffic engineering in college and I hated it. I stuck to more of the geotech and structural aspects of civil engineering.
