Next time you need to build something like this, ask here first. I'm an electrician and could have helped you design a better, lighter, stronger, and cheaper way to build this. Imagine what a real carpenter could recommend...

Screws. Out of nails for my framing nailer.

But seriously my driveway is in direct sun all day with vehicles parked. Plus we have divots from the dumpster when I gutted the house a few years ago.

It's a bed. Gonna have some flat storage totes underneath.

I'm only using it for camping really.

    I pulled my seats out

Yeah this was just built in haste. I'm going camping Friday and have been putting off this build for too long and just wanted to get it done. I'll be revisiting the design at a later date. I just want the laids, I don't care what it looks like lol

    ^truth.
A real carpenter probably would have built the sides out of plywood. And a real carpenter would have probably put the 2x4s up top on edge instead of on the flat to carry more than twice the load. The bottom would also probably be solid plywood instead of 2x4s to allow for more space plus a uniform surface to slide things in and out. :D and if he was really ganna do it right he would buy some 60" 500lb drawer slides and build a giant drawer box for pull out storage. Maybe add a pivoting strut so the drawer has assist open and self closing past a certain point.

Alex, you'll want to put something over those 2x4's. 1/4" plywood, maybe. Otherwise you're going to have an uncomfortable night.

1/2 inch seems excessive for just a top sheet.
How much do you weigh?!

1/4 inch should be more than enough to hold you up, unless you're built like this guy:

why not attach some d-rings or similar to the frame, secure the plywood to the frame with screws, and use a turnbuckle to properly secure the whole unit. The added cost is nominal, and with the 2x12 or w/e you are using for the sides of the frame they will be more than stout enough to attach a d-ring to.
