How's the Runner coming?

 

Sitting in the garage and I'm on the lake .

 

Awesome! I always wondered about those but they seem like they'd be a back killer.

 

They are basically a internal frame pack with a harness for a kid. All the weight goes on your hips, shouldn't be any student than my normal internal frame pack.

...and we're back. Just caught up on the thread and am finally up to date. I was in Aruba for the past week and it was beautiful.

I was able to do everything I wanted to do on the island including doing 53 mph on a jet ski (so much fun!) and rented a Jeep and saw some of the island.

Not that anyone cares, but here's a few pics for everyone's enjoyment.

The Auto. Check out those 285s! Of course my spare was a 245, the 285s smashed the body and we had no lug wrench.


Some of the desert like terrain on the north side of the island.



Finally the trip to the natural pools. It's called the Conchi and it's one of the hardest areas to get on the island. Most of the rental places won't let you take Jeeps down there and a lot of reviews I read said that the terrain is really tough, but after going there, it was SO worth it.

The condition of the road as you got closer. Pictures don't show how incredibly steep the road was.



Also, it doesn't look nearly as rocky in the photos as it actually was. I spent most of the time in 4WD plus low gear just to keep the Jeep from gaining too much speed. I was perfectly okay, but the fiancee and our friends were absolutely FREAKING THE F*** out the entire time (amateurs!).

My buddy's younger brother called me 10 minutes ago "hey can you help me out. I'm in a bit of a situation"


He's up 2 hours away in Maine. About to embark on a rescue mission lol

So... you're going on a mud rescue with no winch and highway tires... My prediction is in about an hour, there will be a post showing a stuck Jeep hooked to a stuck Runner "I have sort of a situation"

Alex, where was your buddy stuck? And how did he manage to bury the ass that much without even digging in the front end? Does his 4x4 not work, or did he fall in a hole?
