This might be the total opposite direction of what you looking to do, but when I got my wheels powder coated they had clear as an option...

Hmmm... Wasn't aware of that. I'm just looking for added protection from the salt. Figured plasti-derping every fall and removing for the summer or vinyl wrap and see how long it lasts would be good options. Powder coat might be a good option, can't imagine it's inexpensive though and I would guess you have to get the tires dismounted also. Vinyl and plasti-derp I can at least do on my own and with the tires still mounted and balanced. I'll give that some thought though, thanks for the suggestion

    Thanks :D

Thanks. It's their stock "electric green". I was anti plasti-dip until last week. I didn't want to go through the hassle of taking all the individual letters off and spray painting them. If I want to change the color then I can just peel it off and start over. I am in love with this stuff now. It was like $6.95 a can. Just like Alex said, they have clear derp if you're looking for protection. Dipyourcar.com

Thanks. It needed a punch of color.

I wasn't even aware that they made a clear version. :mindblown:

True, but I only want to use it for temporary protection. Sort of like a condom for my wheels. Protect them from the nasty stuff then take it off and throw it away to let them air out for the summer :D

On another note, I think I finally figured out lights for the new truck. Going with a 30" light bar behind the grille and 3" pods on either side of the license plate in the lower valance. Should effectively scare the wildlife on any dark back roads I come across.

why don't you use reg clear coat.....I thought the whole point behind that stuff is that if you didn't like the color any more you can just peel it off...thats a whole new level of hate if you dont like clear....

for a brief moment when I had my red taco I though of using it, now that my new one is green the chrome actually looks pretty good...

Ease of application and removal, that's the only reason I'm considering it. I didn't even know they made a clear version, I was going to use black.

I think you'll be good on any roads in eastern MA with that set up

I never get to use my lights in east MA. More for western MA, NH, VT and upstate NY.

    Congrats Rob!

Changed out the rear brakes on Saturday. Damn those springs are hard to get back on! Had to adjust the star wheel manually as the backup method wasn't working. I think I had both sides way too loose when I put the drums back on. Now I'll need to keep an eye on it as it would suck to not have rear brakes while pulling the snowmobile trailer this winter.

I wish Toyota would have given us rear disc instead of drums.
