I'm still lucky enough to be on VZW's unlimited data plan. Some months I go through 20GB of data. VZW does (or used to) allow an early upgrade at 18 months for a small $20 fee, but the sales reps don't like to tell you that. For me, accepting the contract is cheaper. I only paid $50 for my last phone instead of the $600 for full price. I also get a 20% discount.

They are all screwing you either way. If you look closely ATT is charging $40 a month per line access fee for a 2 year contract. If you do the next program, then you get $15 off a month for under 10 gb and $25 a month for over 10 gb. It pretty much works out to charing 40 a month cause if you have Next then you have to pay for the phone and most phones are between 15 and 25 a month.

I average around 2-2.5 GB of use.

Unfortunately, there's not really any competition among carriers here. For reasons I don't understand, Verizon has huge gaps with no coverage on this side of the state. They cover the populated areas pretty well, but forget about anything rural. The little carriers barely even get the populated areas.

With AT&T, it used to be that your bill amount dictated how far apart your upgrades were. Because I paid for so much data, I fell into the yearly tier. Most people ended up being 18 or 24 months. They changed that a while back though.

We have verizon. I have an unlimited texting plan for $30, and a 6GB data plan for $30... I'm usually VERY close to going over my data (last month was 5.957GB). I used to have an unlimited data plan for $30, but they only grandfathered us for so long, which really sucks! I use lots of data when I'm at school between classes or at work during slow points.

I want to get the iPhone 6 but I'm stuck with this current phone for another year and some months

Wow, some of you use a lot of data. I had unlimited too but lost it just recently when my Razr died. I was talked into the Edge plan, we will see how it stacks up. They offer a $15 discount for going with Edge right now so it's not a terrible deal. You pay a bit more for the phone but it's a little cheaper plan, it kinda works out the same. They call it a no contract plan, but that is a little deceiving because it's definitely a contract. You have to pay 75% of the value of the phone before getting a new one, and when you get a new one you have to surrender the phone back to Verizon. You don't own the phone unless you go through the entire 24 months of paying for it.

They told me I didn't need any more than 1 gb of data due to my past use history, but ironically this past month I lost power and wifi at home for 3 days and came within 20mb of my data limit. So I am not happy about that.

I've upgraded twice since VZW canceled unlimited, but I still have it. Loopholes FTW! :D

for those of you with Verizon, if you call and talk to customer service just ask for the loyalty member promotion/upgrade. I had my wife call and they doubled our data for free (some sort of promotion going on right now).

We normally have 3 GB of data, and it was bumped up to 6 GB of data for free with no strings attached. They are not advertising it because everyone and their mother would call it in, but its being offered regardless. She called and mentioned that there some sort of loyalty program going on and that she heard they can double your data for free, and within two minutes we were all set.

Yup. I just spoke with a rep that knew how to explain it. I pay 140.00 for four lines and 15g of data. If I use the next plan, I will add the 20-30 dollars for the phone for the allotted payment period. If I do the old standard two year contract, I will pay the 200-300 dollars for the phone plus tax and a 40 dollar activation and will loose the 25 dollar discount. So I will still pay an extra 25 dollars a month.

We had unlimited data from when we had blackberries. Lol... Let's take a moment to remember blackberries...

    Moving on.

I got phones off contract to keep from having to change the plan/resign a contract. Eventually I got tired of my iPhone 4 not working, so I got a 5S, and was forced to sign a contract for another 2 years, and my data got cut down from $30/unlimited to $30/3GB. I called and raised absolute hell and they gave me 6GB. It's still not enough.

I love Verizon's coverage up in our area, but I feel that data is WAY too expensive for what it is!

    ...and they actually advertised it.

I got 3 GB for the price of 2, and I think any higher amounts they would double.

    1. Shut off power to the furnace and then shut off the oil from the tank.
    2. Shut off the oil to the burner. Why? You don't want to get air into the line or it'll be a nighmare to restart the burner. With it closed, it'll trap the oil like having your finger on the end of a straw.
    3. Add a catch pan under the filter assy.
    4. Remove the bolt on top of the filter housing and that should drop the filter assy into the catch pan. Remove the filter and clean the can.
    5. Insert new filter and gasket and reassemble.
    6. Now the tricky part - you absolutely need to get the air out of the filter assy. There's usually a small bleed screw on top to remove and then you open the tank valve to let some oil in. The way I've seen the pros do it is to keep the filter housing loose and open the tank a bit. I put a tee on the outlet of my filter and use a hose to drain all of the air into the drip pan. After you get the air out, tighten everything and check for leaks.
    7. Open the valve on the burner and turn on the power to the furnace.

Do you have a boiler or furnace (hot water or hot air)? It's not very difficult to service if you have a basic understanding what you're attempting to do. I service my boiler as I actually clean the inside of it with a brush. The hardest part is finding a plumbing supply that will sell you a nozzle and electrode kit. The burner will have a nozzle and a set of electrodes. It may also have another filter internal to the burner (becket has on on the left side under the clover leaf looking cover plate). For the first time, you'll probably need to shut everything down and take the nozzle/electrode assy to the supply house to have them match up what you need. You'll also need an electrode alignment gauge to get it in proper position (each type of burner is a little different in position but there basically about the width of a quarters thickness apart and a little in front of the nozzle tip). If you have a boiler, there should be an access panel on top to expose the internals where you'd brush the soot into the firebox. I use a shop vac with a HEPA filter on it and have the hose stuck through the viewing port in the front while I brush to keep the dust down - respirator is a must, not a dust mask, but a real respirator. Once it's brushed down, there should be an access panel to get into the firebox so you can vacuum out the soot. Replace everything you took off, check the flue to make sure it's clean and not blocked by soot or dead animals (racoons and birds fall in the top fo teh chimney after they pass out from the fumes) and you're good to go. I have mine check by a pro about every 4 or 5 years as they should verify efficiency when they service the system. Finding a good service tech in my area has been a little difficult and that's why I, now, do it myself. I actually found one guy tapping the flue with the screwdriver to, I guess, make noise like he was cleaning it. After he left, I pulled the flue and found the inside not touched at all and the filter assy full of crud. All he did was change the nozzle and electrodes and tapped on the outside of the furnace...

Let me know if you need a picture of how I have the tee installed on the filter housing. It really makes bleeding the air simple.
