I'm not normally one to complain about snow, I actually love it. I just don't love what it's doing to my house right now. This is the first real winter we've gone through in it and I'm discovering lots of issues that need to be addressed before next years winter season.

Yeah that sucks, for your sake I hope it lets up. Not fun dealing with roofs. I've helped my dad with his roof in the past 100's of times. He refuses to fix it and deal with it when it leaks

Rather have the rain. If it's raining, that means it's warmer than if it was snowing. Also, the rain will melt some of the snow, hopefully without too much flooding.

Preventative maintenance for spring - the deer are destroying the arborvitae around my house. We have 10 foot tall bushes that run one of our property lines and make a great divider between the neighbor and us. Right now I can see right through the lower 6 feet clear as day due to the deer having an open buffet. Trying to wrap them in burlap would be quite a bitch due to the amount. During the spring/summer, the deer eat our lilies and hydrangea and pisses off the wife to no end.

I sit outside with a beer some nights and can hear the deer going around in the snow, I scare them off but most of the time, they come right back. I dont want to kill them, and dont want to spend tons of money on deer repellent (I know they arent too expensive, but money is still money).

I have an old red ryder BB gun from when I was a kid that shoots something like 350 fps. I dont want to kill the deer, but if I pop them in the ass a few times, would that do the trick? I dont think the gun is powerful enough to break the skin, but should hopefully give a nice warning to them.

I love my plow and its been very effective for the past four years. It owes me nothing now. I push up to 15 inches per pass if its light snow and 4-5 inches of the heavy wet stuff.

Too bad his wang didn't get the ol' lightning rod treatment.
My cousin dared me to piss on an electric fence when I was a kid. I must've walked lopsided for a week.

Be careful with the BB gun, all it takes is the right activist to see that and you could be in a world of hurt in MA (even though it wouldn't hurt the deer). A short fence at an angle is all it takes to keep deer clear. It messes with their depth perception and they won't jump it. The BB gun might work but I doubt you'll scare enough of them away in the few hours you'll spend outside to deter them completely. You might want to try predator urine (and I don't mean Alex, I mean like a bear or wolf). Shouldn't be too expensive but would deter deer from coming around.
Hopefully he got a good jolt through his pecker before it tripped!

Denis next time you are at a bar you better have a great story for that scar. I am thinking a barracuda attack off the coast of Cuba as you were working with the Seals

Fending off a guy with a knife who was chasing a multiracial group of physically disabled girl scouts down the street, maybe.
