Just saw a grand Cherokee on 125 in front of Merrimack College. Front passenger tire was folded under. UBJ or UCA failure

I understand that Toyota rates it to 100K, but I don't necessarily buy into that fact. I've seen conflicting reports that it drops to 60K if you fall under "severe service" and this being my first autobox, I'm not taking any chances. I tend to over-maintain my vehicles to the point of ridiculousness. I change the oil in my STi every 3,400 and get it analyzed at Blackstone because I get paranoid about it lol.

I came across that yesterday. I fully get what they're saying, but with a 30K fill interval, I can't stress it too much. I also don't want to give the dealers a reason to deny a claim. Magnuson-Moss would save me, in theory, but it would be a heck of a claim to push, and I doubt the dealer would even put in something other than WS for me at this point.

I'll make the judgement call when I change it @ 60 when it's out of warranty.

I'm trying a different dealer for this service as I kept hitting a dead end on any questions/concerns I've had at my usual place. I was trying to get the 4 leaf TSB springs for the vibration and they blamed my BFGs, so now that I'm on a summer/highway tread I'll try again. I also had asked about the ECM reprogram because of pinging and they hadn't heard of it. I'm filling up with 87 tomorrow to see if I can't get it to do it.

What's going on is just the shit has gotten dumped on us so much at a time..plus zero melting days for so long. I know for a fact I insulated the daylights out of my weight room's ceiling and the dam on there is huge.

    Where do you usually go?

    That sucks, Bill.
I came home to a flooded sunroom and the sound of running water. Apparently the GF shut the heat off out there on Sunday, then shut the door and forgot to turn the heat back on. I keep the thermostat out there set to around 50 to keep the plumbing from freezing whenever we close the room off during the week, but it didn't happen this time. The pipe must have burst yesterday, and then warmed up enough today to leak. Bah. Didn't feel like calling (or paying!) a plumber, so I went and got my plumbing kit.
    Cut the burst section out:

And soldered a new stretch back in from some spare stock and splices I had kicking around in the workshop. Hardly a professional job in terms of appearance, but it doesn't leak, so I buttoned it back up.

So now I've got the woodstove burning out there and the dehumidifier on full blast. We'll see what damage was done to the flooring/subflooring once it dries out. The subfloor is Advantech and should be all set, but the flooring is just a cheap laminate that will likely have to be ripped out and replaced. Not really a big loss, lol, since I'd planned on doing it eventually anyway, but not quite this soon.

I had been going to Copeland but I'm giving Rt 44 a try. They were much cheaper and was giving me actual answers to questions such as how much for various services. Copeland was like oh you don't need this or that. I didn't care if I needed it or not, I just wanted a price. They did the "we will know when we see the truck" and tried giving me a quote for the full 30K not just what I had hen picked.

Thanks Noel. I have cleaned out more channels to allow drainage. I have the heat turned up and the dehumidifier running also. I will assess the damage later and make a decision what to do then

Put on the 3rd brake light I got from TRSandrew today after work, it's pretty bright and have to tighten the screws a bit more tomorrow to make the flush seal on the cab

Just curious, about how much did they quote the transmission service? I have been thinking about getting my truck into the dealer to have ATF and diff fluids changed.

Lol. Always a good time, right?
One of the advantages to having owned two fixer-uppers is that I've always got spare parts laying around, haha! Didn't even have to run to the hardware store.

Haha I hear ya, we're on our 4th house in 12 years same all fixers. I've got quite the collection of supplies, with exception of copper. It's the one area that I hadn't had to deal with.

Ah, gotcha. Both of my houses had been abandoned and not winterized, so they both needed quite a few burst pipes repaired.

Nothing like on the job training. :D Like you, I'm not a fan of paying someone else for doing a job I can do or at least figure out how to do. I'll be teaching myself very soon techniques for adding blown in insulation for the attic.

Don't know if you're happy with your ins co., but I used this outfit for years - great company for insuring bikes. Rates were lower than Regressive.
