Alex, sorry to hear about your grandfather - mine just passed away a few weeks ago from the same disease. Its crushing to see the strong man I grew up with succumb to a disease of that nature. Like others have said, the memories will never go away and they can give you comfort when you start to miss him.

I really hope they find some way of eliminating it. I heard recently there was a drug that is in testing stages that either stops the progression of reverses it. It'll be interesting to see what they've got in 5 years.

 

I can die happy if it happens in my lifetime. My father in law was in a trial for something that dramatically slowed it.

 

Hopefully in 50 heads when I need it... Lol

Well I don't know how much I have said on this but a little over a month ago my left ear started ringing like I went to a concert. This is real big to me as I have a serious hearing loss in my other ear. Well anyways after seeing my primary care doctor they set me up to go see a ENT specialist that I saw yesterday. Hearing test was good (well as good as it gets because I'm almost deaf in one ear ) some other weird thing that checks the ear drum was good, everything was good. Bad news is that the ringing in the ear might be permanent.

This sounds similar to what I went thru for like 2 years.. All of the sudden I had this ringing, dr's couldn't come up with a good reason why.. Same deal as you, I only hear good from one ear, so this was making me nervous the longer it went on... Then one day I woke up and the ringing was gone... No clue or answers as to why or how... I won't lie though for those 2 years it was hell...

 

I'm guessing you already heard this, but sounds like tinnitus..

 

Hope it gets better Rob. I think they call it tinnitus and I guess it's pretty common

How's your blood pressure? I've heard that high blood pressure can cause tinnitus. If your hearing test checked out OK, a visit to your regular doc to have him/her check the rest of you over might not be a bad idea.

 

Rob, look up all of the side effects of any medications that you might be taking. I have some ringing in my ears that's caused by a med I take for Crohn's disease. For me, I'll take the ringing over crapping in my pants...

 

Thanks guys. Yes it was never said but it's called Tinnitus. Went to my regular doctor before the ENT specialist. BP is totally fine and I don't take any meds. Only real advise was to keep down my caffeine and salt.
