Glad he's ok...... Certainly not trying to one-up here just sharing my story..... About 8 years ago my father was about 40ft up in a tree when his saw kicked backed hitting him in the forehead then as he dropped the saw which was tied to him it tore down his arm and his leg..... The dude climbed down the tree then I raced him to the Hospital.... I think I lost more years off my life that day than my dad... over 80 stiches some skin grafts and a bunch of surgeries later you can barely tell... so lucky he only nicked his skull...

 

Wow glad he's going to be OK. Hope he has a quick recovery

It looks really similar to Boyd's from NJ but his had a different rear bumper. Those parts are all TW vendors, that's for sure!

What a waste to leave all that on when you trade it in.

 

Ouch! Stories like that is why my dad and I buy each other saw safety gear for x-mas every year, lol. He has the full logger's helmet with a facemask, kevlar chaps, & leather gloves with kevlar cuffs that he was wearing when it happened, but for Christmas this year he's getting one of those Swedepro Chainsaw Shirts that have the ripstop sleeves & chest pads.

He was about 1/2 a mile back in the woods behind my parent's house, so he clamped pressure on the biggest cut and walked out, then had my brother call the ambulance.

Thanks guys. He definitely got pretty lucky.

 

Lol. Front tires are chopped and the dealership didn't even rotate them to the back for the photos.

 

I agree, although when you cut into body panels or trashed the original parts, swapping all that out can be a real pain in the ass. Especially waiting for someone to swap with the correct color and everything. I can see doing it that way if you need to trade quick and don't have time to mess with swapping parts. I spent a decent amount of time putting mine back to stock and it wasn't very heavily modified at all.

 

That's exactly what I did next xmas........ hearing stories involving chainsaw accidents freaks me the f*** out... Like I said before glad he's ok.....

 

Yeah, me too. Plus I spent some time volunteering at the local ER as a teenager, and saw some chainsaw injuries (they're disturbingly common in Western Maine) while I was there. If I didn't have incentive to go ATGATT before, I did after that.
My dad'll be 64 in October, and we've been nagging him for years not to cut alone (especially since my kid brother is still living at home, so there's NO reason he can't get help with it), but he's stubborn and has just kept doing it. Not that he wouldn't have gotten injured if my brother had been there, but if he hadn't been able to walk out the outcome would have been a lot different. Hopefully this will give him a wakeup call for next year (since he won't be cutting anything for the rest of this year)

 

A family friend lost a brother two weeks ago when he was cutting alone and was crushed by the tree.

I am very happy to hear that everyone turned out relatively OK and like you said, hope its a wake up call and he adjusts his methods for next time. Kinda opens the eyes to how quickly it can get serious when doing that type of work.

Glad to hear Noel that your dad will recover from his accident. I usually keep a beard year round to cover my scars on my face (left side of mouth) due to a chainsaw accident. Same type of deal as the others mentioned, I was up in the tree and the saw got banged and as it was winding down it came across my face

 

I was lucky that there was a plastic surgeon on duty when it happened. The inside is beat up but the outside looks ok.

 

Damn, he did a good job then, considering that was from a chainsaw.
The worst cut on my dad's arm was about 2 inches wide and 4 inches long, and about an inch deep at the middle. The doc did a hell of a job; they were able to reconnect everything without even needing to do a skin graft. But, I bet he's still going to have a pretty gnarly scar
