Haha that stuff blows my mind. We have something similar happening in my town where the residents are getting their pitchforks and torches, rallying to get a bridge widened. Our town is going broke due to no increase in PILOT funding, the schools are sinking quickly and these idiots are worried about a narrow bridge. We already have a decent property tax rate and yet they can't see the cause and effect......

I then think about all the dumb-asses I went to highschool with and realize they all grew up too.

George Carlin nailed it in one statement: "Think about how stupid the average person is, then realize that half of 'em are stupider than that"

 

The best part about it is WHY the fire department wants a new truck. The current truck is from the 70's, but it's in immaculate condition, runs perfectly, and just passed all of its yearly tests with flying colors. BUT, it has lap belts instead of the standard 3-point shoulder belts, and they think that's too dangerous. So rather than spending $10k to have the truck retrofitted with shoulder belts, they decide we need to buy a brand new truck.

Stupid.

Only time I've seen a fire truck in an accident, I was playing GTA

 

And I hate working on bikes. I'm way more comfortable working on a car

 

Is it still considered an accident when you're driving down the sidewalk mowing people down?

 

Not only are they worried about lap belts, they're worried about only having lap belts in case of an accident. In a 10-ton, bright red truck with flashing lights and sirens and a loud damn horn.

I'd rather have the manual. Plus with the right suspension, you can lift and still hit the corners.

Manuel Transmission?

 

We nicknamed our plow truck 'Manuel' when I was a kid, because it had manual steering, brakes, windows, and was a stick-shift. Plus it only worked when it wanted too and if you worked it too hard you had to let it 'take a nap' to cool down before you could start it (exhaust was too close to the starter)
