Good to know. I want it to run my boiler and the water pump (forced hot water heat) and, if we're out of power for a long time, the fridge. I can cycle them so they aren't on at the same time so with a 4000W generator, it shouldn't be an issue.

I'm going simple and wiring in a standard 3-prong plug for my boiler, same with the fridge. That way there is absolutely no risk of backfeeding. Eventually I'll get it cleaned up using knife switches and have a permanent connection outside for the generator to just plug into but I want to get this wired up before the winter and Monday's potential storm.

I've got 2 standard BBQ sized propane tanks, one's full, the other is connected to the grill. Getting it piped in seemed like a hassle so I didn't bother (I have a large propane tank that runs my drier and stove/oven). I've only had it for less than a year but it claims it will run for 10 hours at 50% load on 1 cylinder of LP. Considering I'd only need to run it for a couple hours at a time, I could probably be fine for days since the only critical items are the heat and the fridge. LP stove is great :D
