Just out of curiosity... do you know how old your house and/or plumbing are? Guessing it's all copper piping, right?

 

The heat pipes in my addition froze Friday night. I've got the valves shut off on it and towels under the lines where they're in the house, in case there's any leaks. It'll be warm enough to day for them to thaw, so if there's any burst points they'll be easy to find.
Going to do a complete drain and refill w/antifreeze on my system this weekend, though. Supposedly the system already has antifreeze in it, but the lines running to the addition freeze solid whenever it gets below zero for more than a day or two, even with insulation around the pipes, between the joists, and an inch of foam on the outside.

 

That's because it was COLD!

 

On another note my poor little one has been sick since Sunday. She is throwing up like crazy and can't keep anything down except little tiny sips of pedialyte

Nothing worse than having a sick little one, it's a helpless feeling. Here's hoping for a quick rebound!

 

Yup. Short version is I'm fixing the fucking mess someone made before me. Last year the hot busted and it was replaced with pex which seems to be heartier.

 

Gotcha. Good luck with the fix and hopefully it won't happen again anytime soon.

 

Yeah, but the antifreeze for boilers is rated for something like -100 if it's mixed correctly. Shouldn't be freezing at zero, especially not with how heavily it's insulated. I wouldn't be surprised if I drain the system and find out that it's just water.

 

No way I'd take my bike out today and subject it to all that salt and shit they put on the roads. It's nice out, but I keep my bikes out of the salt.

 

I though she was somewhere else when she was saying that. All that salt plus all the sand on the roads? No way I'd be out on a bike either

 

What tires are on you running on the DR? When I had the 650, I had some Dunlop D606's and they were great on gravel roads - but on pavement they were brutal. Sandy gutter lines and those tires made for a slippery ride.

 

I have a mix-match right now, Kenda Big Blocks on the front and Michelin AC-10 on the rear. The Kendas were pretty new when I got the bike, but the Pirelli on the rear was shot. I couldn't find a new Kenda for the rear in the right size so I went with the Michelin. When they wear out, I'll go more for a 50/50 type tire. I've heard good things about the Dunlop D606's. Right now, the tires are have are unpredictable at best on pavement. On gravel, they do ok, the rear hooks up great but the front feels like it wants to wash out, the rear is planted. I haven't had them in mud yet but in the spring, we'll see what's what.

 

You have any offroad trails near you? I would imagine the 350 wouldn't be too much of a pig to bring on some legitimate trails.

 

Nah, it shouldn't be bad at all. I had an XT350 that I used to ride on really tight trails when I was younger, this is very similar. Apparently there's some trails in Foxboro, but I have yet to check them out. I need to find someone to go with.

 

Mike their are trails both in Foxboro and Wrentham that are legal for you to ride

 

Yeah, I have the trails maps for both printed out but I don't have the stupid OHV sticker and am a little apprehensive riding alone.
