If you're waiting for the winch this might not work, I was going to say bring it with you next Sunday and we can install it. I literally had mine on in just over an hour. Took me longer to remove the plastic bumper cover than anything else.

i was just going to have my guy install everything with the bumper (lights winch etc). i figured it would be more cost effective to do it one time, than to put it on and revisit later. unless it would be easy for him to take the bumper off to do the install

Still running the stock Michelin AT2's but they're getting thin. I'll have to replace them this year. I can get most, if not all the way through the summer with them safely, but I won't get another winter out of them. I'm browsing tires now, no idea what I want to go with. Michelins are awesome pricey, not sure I'll throw down that kind of coin for them. I've looked at buying a take-off wheel/tire package but the damn TPMS is just annoying to get around. Decisions, decisions...

For MPG, I'm averaging 18 coming out of the winter and that's stop and go getting in and out of Cambridge every day. When I had the 20's and Pirelli Scorpions on last summer, my mileage tanked. That was a noticeably heavier wheel/tire combo. I think I was running in the mid 16's with that combo and no change in my driving habits. Not to mention those tires were terrible.

Well I guess that's a judgment call for you :Dthere's 8 bolts unless you have the frame braces too. Then there's 8 more I think.

We haven't had a mod day in a while. We installed a full lift kit on someone's truck at John's house before and the mod day at Billy's was fun. I think we had multiple people tearing into 3 or 4 trucks that day. Good times.

I know in one of the other threads there was some talk about doing some light mod work. I always have some tools in the back of my truck so if you want to put it on just say the word.
Just an FYI, I've never installed a winch before, but the bumper with a few people on it shouldn't take too long.

Im looking at ordering a set of the General Grabber AT2 this summer. May beef up my tires from the 265 to a 285 (seeing as the tire is on the more wallet friendly side).

Have been going back and forth with those and some Nittos, but I will most likely settle on the generals.

Which Nittos? They came out with 2 more AT designs this past year.

Yeah, Pirelli's suck for fuel economy. Their truck tires, at least. All of the Scorpions are really heavy tires for what they are. Which is weird, because Pirelli makes all of these UHP tires for Ferraris and Maserati's that weigh the equivalent of 6 small feathers.

What size do you have on that right now? The standard 275/65R18's?

Home brewed Tom foolery. A couple pieces were made, but most was bought. Now I’m broke.
I'd be up for a mod day! It'd be fun to come off and help some tw peeps.

I've gotten to the point where I can take off and reinstall plate bumpers with no fancy jacks by my lonesome. 2 or more people on your truck would have it done in no time.

Can you fit 285's without trimming anything? I haven't looked into it at all on the Ferd. Not sure I'd go with them anyways because of the mileage but I bet they'll look good.

Not sure where I'll go with my next set... I like the price of the Hankook Dynapro ATM, they're like $150/tire. Then the little kid in me wants to go with Duratracs or something that looks a little beefier. I'm even coming around to the new BFG K/O, they are getting really good reviews.
I always thought it was the wheels that were heavy, didn't realize it was the tires. They were a crap tire for traction also, they'd break loose very easily and were almost new. Between that and the fuel economy, I just dumped the whole set.

    I have 265/70R17.

285 are the max without trimming that I have found through research. Looks nice, but it is a lot of tire without a lift. Makes the big supercrew look like a toy car with all that rubber showing. Still going back and forth, but the general grabber AT2 for my tire size (17" rim) are $133/ tire so that is making my wallet (and Jen) happy.

I really liked the 3 different sets of BFGs Iv had. The older all terrains were great.

I can get you the Wrangler AT Adventures in a black letter metric for $718.25 with all of the Masshole taxes. They've got a $70 mail-in rebate right now too.

The only thing is that you'd have to pick them up from our warehouse in Hyde Park, and then you'd have to have somebody install them for you.

$133/ea for 285's isn't bad at all! I'll wait til you get yours to confirm no trimming required though :D
Not bad! I'm not ready to do it just yet, I have another 10k miles or so left on these (maybe 8k). I'm going to give my local guy a shot at them first, see what his pricing is. He's a small garage right at the end of my street and has treated me well in the past. I bought tires from him for my mother-in-law's car and had him do some other minor work. The owner of the joint is always very helpful so I'm going to try to give him some business as long as he's competitive with his pricing. He got my MIL's tires for $75/ea, they were Goodyear tires that had great reviews.

If you come across a deal like you found on those Duratracs though...
