This is why I hire people. I know nothing about keeping a lawn alive

 

It's really not too complicated at all. Granted a big part of it has to do with the soil itself, so if you have crappy soil then you're pretty much S.O.L., but aside form that it's easy. Just spread some fertilizer, grass seed, mow, and you're good to go for the most part. Don't even have to water it much since it's humid and rains quite a bit anyway. Easy peazy.

 

I've tried a few years to make it nice. Between the big ass dog tearing it up, shade, sandy soil it's a losing battle and I've accepted that it'll never be nice unless I was too completely rip it up and sod it. And I don't care that much quite honestly.

 

So I've never started a lawn mower....or know how to use one...

 

If you can drive a bike, you can operate a lawn mower...

 

Are you accepting applications for a "boy toy landscaper" then?!

I have good intentions to have a nice lawn every year, but I have two dogs, and one ALWAYS has to pee on top of where the other one goes, so I get these double burn spots. I pee behind the shed when outside so the grass burns, and the crab grass has slowly taken over - I don't water it and it stays green. Easy maintenance.

Maybe next year will be my year for the lawn. This year, I have already given up.

 

I'll still have a pile of wood to cut and split...

 

Hell yeah, it's great stuff! I use the orange bottle year round which is their de-icer. There's a green bottle also that's a bug remover but I've never tried that. After you use it for a while, at high speeds you won't even need your wipers, water just sheets off.

I did that once, forgot to pick up the leaves in the fall before snow fell and I'll never do it again. It took me 4x longer the next spring to rake all that shit out of my grass.

It kills me, I really could keep my lawn nice and good looking but I can't bring myself to piss away money on watering it. If I had a well point for a sprinkler, I'd do it but no way I'm paying city water and sewer fees to water weeds. So my lawn looks great from late spring to early summer, then turns brown, then comes back and looks good for a couple weeks in the fall, then the snow and salt come.

 

Turns out it's also cracked.

 

That adds significantly to the challenge.

 

Having green grass is nice till you're cutting it 2-3 times a week..... Then it's like work.

 

I don't even bother trying to keep my lawn green - my neighbor cuts it for me because I helped him fix his landscaping truck once. Guy does it before I can even notice it is long...

Cut up a tire tube, wrap it and use a few pipe clamps to secure it. Might be able to limp it along for a while.

I'll take my $100 tractor out soon and dethatch, otherwise I just mow

 

Damn. That escalated quickly. I just heard about him going to hospital but it didn't sound serious. I wonder if the doctors missed something serious.

 

Just finished cleaning out the pool area. ..it still looks like crap! So many little projects to make it look decent!
