@replica9000 it's wicked easy to pull the front end apart. The half shaft is in the clamshell pretty tight though... A slide hammer is a big help... Ecgs sells the tool to pull the old bearing out with their replacement brass bearing(pretty sure they include it...) once you get the axle off.

A few hours on a nice day with a friend and some beers, you'll be rockin'!

Yeah I might end up replacing both CVs and wheel hubs while I'm at it. So when are you free? :D

Thanks. Looks like the tool costs as much as the bearing.

Now I gotta wonder if it's the hubs, the bearing, or both that are humming away...

You said you'd just had that windshield installed though, right?
Take it back to whoever did it and tell them to fix it.

Yeah I brought it back and they replaced it just worried about potential mold issues and maybe future electrical issue where it was coming from behind the globe box.

There was a White 928 for sale with aftermarket rims near J's Deli. It's probably for that car.

He said it was factory wheels that the previous owner had chromed. He wanted the chrome stripped and redone in silver again like the factory.

Pressed my new uni-balls into my uca's, and repainted them. Now to reinstall them. Completely refurbished my entire front end.

Wicked easy I ghetto rigged a puller from a fancy puller I have and old diff parts and a sway away coilovers mounting bracket worked mint lol. Takes 5 mins to pull, I put mine in without a bearing driver which was a tad bit more tedious. You can use the CV itself to set the bearing as I found out I recommend two people for that however. Then put a new axle seal in it.

The problem I have is my front locker and new cv are acting up and I can't get full engagement with this particular cv... So I need to cheat the seal out. But that's because the lunchbox lockers on these ones tend to run just wider than the factory spiders.

I know, I know, but I needed a half ton.
I also have one.. I tied ice fishing line to it when I was sliding it in to set it.. Piece of mind if it goes too far and won't go into the diff. Once it's in place cut it off and thread the bolt.

You have to put part of it in past the old needle bearing first and tap it into place.. With nothing attached you could lose it

Packing for Italy. Pretty pumped to be off till Tuesday and to go back to Venice. Wife is currently in Florence and made me jealous by eating at a delicious little hole in the wall we went to last time we were there. They have so frickin delicious native wild boar with polenta that I'm craving right now. I'll meet up with her Thursday and then it's a long weekend of as much fun as you can have while 5months preggo.
