I'd be curious to know the outcome. I didn't call a bunch of dealers, but was dealing with one in NY that was closer to start. They 'matched' the price but then added a bunch of other stuff in so they ended up being a lot more money. The sticker price was the same, but Lerch didn't add anything in and actually knocked some off of their advertised price.

Are you looking at the same model?

Different makes and models but otherwise nearly identical trailers. Rousseau's pretty much took themselves out of the running. Their best price is still a couple grand more than Lerch. I got the line about warranty work, local dealership, etc, and I understand that part of it but I'm leaning toward Lerch at this point. I'll give Flagg till the end of the day then I'm calling and putting down a deposit.

The 2X6 detents leave a lot of the sheet hanging sticking out pretty far. I've done the on top of the tailgate routine for almost everything I now carry but feel I'm limited to the weight I can put on that. I certainly wouldn't put 20 2X4's on there. Obviously I knew this when I bought the truck and was OK with it - still am for the most part. Just used to the old truck having an 8' bed with a suspension that could hold tonnage; literally a pallet of bricks without too much complaining. Those days are over so I guess I'm just complaining/concerned over something that really isn't an issue anymore. I do have to say the one thing that bugs me the most about the truck is the 6 Speed tranny being so notchy. It just doesn't like to go into 3rd easily without a bit of clash and that's with Redline in it. The truck has been great otherwise, just these little pet peeves. I'll have to test drive the ecoboost and see if it is that much better for me vs the added cost. Daughter is in high school so now isn't an ideal time to rack up debt for a few years to come.

Edit: On a side not, today is the last day of work for me this week. Tomorrow is a furlough day so an extra long weekend for me. Going to the Cape to open the house and drive up Mom & Dad's car for them. Certainly try to hit Brax or the Red Nun while I'm there.

That's the same guy I have emailed with. I'll drop your name, see if it benefits either of us.

You bought the Keystone Summerland from them, right?

You'd have about 2 feet of board past the bed edge, but the tailgate being down factors in as well. I guess you could do that and strap it down/in good.

Top of my skull I moved damn near 20 sheets with my rig last summer.

Yeah, I bought the 1800BH. There are a couple different models, the one I bought has the bunk beds for my kids.

When I was at Flagg I was talking to them about buying it somewhere else with shipping and YadaYadaYada. I explained to them that listen I understand buying it here and for any service and what not and that makes sense to me BUT this camper does not cost you a lot more $ than it does to the other place. So if you get close and by close I mean a few hundred bucks not a few thousand bucks than I will go with you guys because it's not worth the aggravation. They were very understanding that people did this and were willing to negotiate but they didn't have the model I wanted in stock at the time and when they followed up it wasn't really camping season so I just let it go.
Moral to the story, don't just give up on a local dealer, make sure they know you're serious and you are willing to take your business elsewhere.

I lost a lot of respect for the local dealerships when I looked at their sticker price vs. everyone else. They're consistently 20-40% higher. At that much of a difference, I'm not even going to give them a shot at it. I understand they need to make money but at some point it's ridiculous.

I hear you and I mostly went to see and touch the campers. Once I starting talking to them and telling them what I was thinking of doing I had them within $500 in 2 minutes. I probably would have gotten them closer or to match the price if I was to try harder.

When we bought our big camper I had gone on here http://www.rvwholesalers.com/design/design.php. to research and price out what we wanted. I went to Bradford with their price and got the same shit about warranty. I mentioned how the manufacturer might be interested in an authorized dealer refusing to perform warranty work. They moved drastically on their price and it almost evened out due to the shipping cost.
