I've had a truck since high school, and I've always been the one people call. But since I bought one with an 8-foot bed I've had probably twice as many requests per year. Don't know if it's because my friends are reaching a point where they're old enough to attain the affluence of their own homes or what, but I've started saying no as well.

I don't mind helping my friends. I've been in way too many situations when i needed someone with a truck and they were never willing. I'm happy to be a superhero tacoma owner to those in need

Meh. I've been helping people move since I was 16. The thrill is gone, haha!
I'll never say no to friends or family, but when someone I haven't seen or talked to since I graduated sends me a facebook request to help them move...

Looks like the good weather will be hanging around for a while. I'm heading out to the Cape (Chatham) in a few hours - be there all next week too. Can't wait to park my ass in the sand and think about nothin' all day. :D

    Yep.
It wasn't a big deal when I was 23, 24, 25, etc; it'd only been a couple of years since we graduated. But I'm 32 now, lol. That window of opportunity has closed! I'll be happy to have you over for a BBQ to catch up or whatever. But help you move all of your crap 50 miles? Pass.

I agree and better sums up what I meant to say. I am 30 and know most of my friends have the means to rent a uhaul for the day to move. To cheap out and have me run back and forth 30 times to get all their shit? Eh, no thanks.

I will help you get the new dresser or cabinet you bought into your house as a one time thing. But I am not about to make the same trip a thousand times for you. Family doesn't count and I have about two friends who I would help move; everyone else needs to pony up and pay their own way now.

Ahh gotcha. You can probably still get some/all of it in the bed and rest it right against the gate, then use your rails and run a strap across so it doesn't jump out.

Everyone knows how anal I am about my truck that people have been afraid to ask, because they don't want to be responsible for anything happening hehe

That and you stand 5-foot-nothing (and a half), and probably weigh 100lbs soaking wet with your pockets full of bricks.
Not exactly what I'm looking for in a moving assistant, unless I'm looking for someone to run around with the drinks, lol.

This. I've done it with my king size a couple times.

I always get those people who need 1 thing moved, and suddenly it turns into 3 trips worth of crap.

My wife went to load part of the camping gear over the side and got yelled at from me to load through the tailgate..and get out of my way before she scratches my truck.

Haha you'd be surprised. Desks, file cabinets, bookshelves. I did that for 2 summers on in college. I saw tons of guys show up and quit by lunch
