Yeah but she is probably the only person I know that could sleep in the bed of her short bed truck using a topper

Not really that surprising. Most of that stuff is about leverage anyway.
The people quitting isn't surprising either, lol. Nobody wants to actually work for their $$. The other day I ran into the farmer I threw hay for back in school (for $8 an hour) says that he can't even find kids to work out the summer paying them $12 an hour now.
I loved that job, personally. Work all day outdoors, run power equipment, get a tan and get cut? Except for the fact that the only days off you didn't ask for were the days that it rained, it was an awesome, awesome job for a teenage kid.

Man, haven't received notifications on this thread for a few hrs

That'd be an awesome summer job in high school. Shit, I'd do that now if I can take the summer off from my actual job.

Same here. If it came with health insurance it'd be perfect, haha! Well worth the pay cut. If I had become a teacher I'd probably still be spending my summers tossing hay.

I think my favorite job for similar reasons (outdoors, throwing 'heavy' things, etc) was working for the brother-in-law of my best friend in junior high, splitting and loading fire wood. Got to run the splitter (which was awesome in my 13-year-old mind) and throw logs into the back of a 10yd dumper all day long for $10/hour. My buddy and another friend quit after the first weekend, I stayed on through the fall until the season slowed down enough that he didn't have enough business to pay me. The wood lot was 1.5 miles from home, I could ride my bike there and back. It was pretty cool having a good chunk of income at that age.

Leverage helps but you still gotta get it going in the first place. Depends on where and how it's going from place to place too.

And yes nobody wants to work for it. I worked since I was 10 yrs old mostly for myself and doing yardwork stuff. My nephew is 13 and I don't think even knows how to operate a lawnmower.

I would not be surprised. I've worked with people doing physical labor your size who could outdo me all day long.

Depends on the pay I can see why some don't last though it is hard work. I worked in a printing shop and didn't last a week. Quality of life sucked b/c I got up at 430AM and was too tired to do anything but sleep by 7PM plus I ached all over..and it was barely more than minimum wage.

People avoidance pays dividends. I think people are afraid to ask me because they rarely see or hear from me to begin with. I'd help in most cases if they needed it.

I'd help any of the guys on my dart team, I at least see them every week. Family that acts like family, yup. A few friends, yup. I've gotten very picky on friends over the past couple of years even.

I usually get asked to help move furniture people buy so it's a one time request or weather-sensitive items since I have the cap on my truck. Other than that, I don't get requests anymore. I guess I'm getting to be more like Jason, I just don't have any friends.

No friends FTW! Most of my friends are out of state since I went to college in Pittsburgh. High school friends scattered since I went to a private high school in Boston, never really knew a lot of the kids in my town.

Machining is perfect on the new bushings, too. The new pins swivel absolutely buttery smooth.

$40, $20 per spindle. Worth it. Dropped them off on Tuesday and they called me this morning to say that they were all set.
