    For the Tacoma?!?!?!
Damn, that sucks! I gotta say though, for a highway speed deer strike, that's not terrible in terms of damage and I'm assuming you're doing OK also since the air bag didn't deploy and smack you in the face.
I hope so!! I want to get my first deer this year!

Eric, I've got a black plastic bumper behind my shed with all the supports if you want it. But this did just put you a step closer to the plate bumper.....

It'd be nice to have a shot at something with horns this year. Haven't had an in-range buck wander through the sights on my rifle in years.

I wish we could hunt with rifles... I got a bow so I can extend my season this year and also put in for a doe permit. If I strike out this season, I might just have to stick to the shooting range. At least I can shoot the fun stuff there!

We have deer across the street from my house all the time. Coyotes usually get them though.

I went years with just irons. Moved to a house that had a big-ass cornfield on the back side and saw bucks on the opposite side of the field all during the season my first year there. Bought my Remington 700 and didn't see them again after that, and then moved again and started hunting woods again, haha!

Now I usually compromise and carry my Marlin 336 if I'm woods walking; scope for if I'm sitting, and see-through scope mounts with irons for if I'm walking.

Guys....after 6 months of owning my TRD sport, I just found out I have the tow package. Is it really much of a difference compared to Tacomas without it?

Big difference is the autos with the tow package have tranny and engine oil coolers. Otherwise, it just means you have a factory 2" receiver.

Also, sorry for interrupting the deer convo. I almost hit one a month ago on 95 south. If I didn't beep at it, I'm pretty sure it would have jumped right in front of me while going 75mph. Glad you're ok

Well you get a hitch; that's handy. Plus if it's a factory tow package with a slushbox you get a transmission cooler too.

Yeah I double checked to see if I had them, and I do. Do they do much if I'm not towing anything? I honestly don't think I'll ever tow

Its the harness, hitch and extra trans cooler on the front of your radiator. Mine does not have it but I haven't seen any significant changes in temps while towing so im not really sure of any significant differences.

The hitch will have an incremental impact on your fuel economy because of the extra weight.

    Other than that, nope.

Yeah I kind of figured there wouldn't be much of a difference.

I would say no other than keep engine and transmission temps in check on really hot days or if you're carrying a load. The factory receiver is also very well built and much better than the aftermarket ones I've seen. It would help you out if you ever get rear ended. It should help your resale value a bit also. It's sort of surprising how many pickups I see now without factory receivers. I remember when I was young, if you bought a full size truck, it came with a receiver, tough to find one without it. Now, it's an option.

You also get a 130A alternator and bigger battery. All good things to have even if you never tow.

I what remember as a kid was that the trucks didn't need receivers; the bumpers were rated for thousands of pounds of towing capacity. My '84 doesn't have a receiver hitch because the bumper's rated to tow 5000lbs, lol.

I couldn't tell if the battery was larger than normal. It's an OEM Toyota one that says "84 month warranty".

    It's a size "27F". The smaller one is a 24, I believe.

    Lots of them around here.
Seen lots of bucks last Fall. When I got mine, there were 5 together...during the rut.
