Morning. Doing pretty good, week is flying by which is always a good thing!

Day 6..

 

I bet that office is pretty ripe about now.

 

Thermostat in the office next to mine says 72. I think at night they are opening up the ventilation with the cool air over night.
I haven't spent more than 2 hours this week in my office though. In a meeting all week with consultants. By the afternoon I bet it gets hot

 

What antenna are you using? Firestik makes a quick disconnect.

Looking at the Quick Disconnect now - very mixed reviews on it rusting out and not working properly.

 

They need to hook up a company pool there

 

I had one on my taco and have the same one in my FJ, works fine for me.

Have the same one on my truck as well. Only problem I had was I messed up soldering the first connector on and had to order another one.

 

I haven't soldered in years. Last time I tried was to do the compass fix, didn't have any luck, so I ended up MacGyvering a fix that's been working well so far.

 

The solder these days is crappy, especially he flux filled stuff. I use solid wire solder and just smear plumber's flux on the joint. It works awesome!

 

The stuff I have says RoHS lead-free. Doesn't melt as easily.

 

I think it's pretty much all lead free now. I think I have the Benzomatic electrical solder. It's very thin stuff, melts easy but then I also use the Oatey plumbers flux on the outside of the joint before applying heat and solder. Once the flux melts, put the solder to the joint and shortly after, it should suck in the solder and you're done.

 

I remember you showing me that trick. Those fogs are still working perfect

 

So I think there may be more of a problem with my AC than needing to be recharged. I've noticed when I turn it on, the indicator goes on, but I don't hear a click from the compressor, and no change in RPMs.

 

If it is low on refrigerant the compressor won't click on. Not sure what the psi should be but check your pressure

 

Nice, that's a few years now, right? I've never had one of my soldered connections fail on any vehicle so far. I know I just jinxed myself, but I'm pretty careful with shit like that.

 

I'll have to look into it. The compressor used to kick on in my GM vehicles with low refrigerant, so I used to take the belt off of the compressor. (Made a noticeable difference on my Fiero)

 

All you guys talking about CB's, are you all ordering the cable with the removable end? It makes the install much easier

 

This has been a week from hell at work. I haven't had much time to check in here but I think I picked a good time. I need/want to put a CB in the Jeep and will take any info that is posted
