Yes but it's better than $1k. I just wanted the rear rotors done and to be on my home!

It could have been $3k+ for just the transmission, so.... Take some and lose some

Do you know that a flush will fix the problem?

FJ trans cause the 6 speed FJ has a 1GR-FE. I would love to swap but it probably wouldn't work too well. I want a standard 4Runner but they discontinued the stick 4Runners with the 4th generation in the US. You can import them, but I'm not spending $40,000 or more to have a standard. If I can find a manual FJ transmission, I'll try it!

I do know, that's why I'm having them flush and clean it. They wanted $408 including labor for flushing and $530 for the brakes plus tax for everything.

A new transmission would be $3k.

I have to stop looking at pics. Every time I see the kickout and/or the fillers it gets me thinking.

I hear ya. If I hadn't sold my tires, I probably wouldn't have gotten the filler plates. I'm ok without the kick. The only thing that's going to stink about the filler plates is there is a lot more surface area and edges that will start to rust.

Ya my concern is the filler plates sit up on top which leaves places underneath to collect sand/salt to help the corrosion

That's what I mean, those filler plates have a lot of edges on them to start rusting. I'll really have to keep after them to keep them from rusting.

$400 to flush the transmission?!?!?! Holy hell, last time I had that done it cost me $150

Did they at least buy you dinner or give you a reach around?

When I get them installed, I'm going to paint the pinch weld also. I'm sick of looking at it and now that the steps are off, the timing is perfect!

No, no sound, I watched the video at work. Same thing happened when we went out the other weekend. One of the guys had a solid axle Jeep and he tore up his front end. Breakage wouldn't bother me as much if I didn't have to rely on it the next day to get me to work.

I think if I ever got a trail rig, I'd look for an old standard cab, solid axle pickup. An old 3/4 ton would be ideal I think.

I did the lift, front brakes, and other things just fine. I, unlike you, did not go to a mechanical school and I learn as I go. I fucked up one thing, that was it. My emergency drums were packed with rust and mud anyway. Shit happens.

I prefer disk brakes to drums specifically for this reason.

I'll stick to LEDs and my hobby of wrenching on my truck, thank you very much
